A Steamsmith is an expert on the use cases of a Steam Core. A Steam Core is an incredibly powerful item that a Steamsmith can attach to their equipment. This unique relic gives the user great boons while being a dangerous tool to himself and everyone in proximity.

Level 3: The Power of the Core

Third level Steamsmith feature

Every long rest you may attach a new armor or weapon to your Steam Core. You may only attach one item to your Steam Core. You may attach an extra item at fifth, ninth, thirteenth and seventeenth. Every item attached to your Steam Core gets a bonus that is half your proficiency modifier. This does not count as attuned items.

Third Level Steamsmith Feature

Steam Powered Equipment
If any steam powered equipment rolls a critical failure, roll a d6.
1. Minor malfunction. Your turn ends now.
2. A malfunction happens, the equipment is unusable for 1d4-2 turns  
3. A harmless steam cloud gets ejected from the Steam Core. 5 feet in every direction originating from the user gets Heavily Obscured. This effect lasts one round.
4. Bolts are ejected from the Steam Core. Roll 2d8, 1 is north, 2 is northeast ect. A ranged attack is made that direction for 1d6 damage with a range of 20 feet
5. Steam gets ejected from the Steam Core. Roll a 1d8, 1 is north, 2 is northeast ect. A 15 foot cone is sprayed from that direction. Any creature caught in the attack is hit with 2d6 and is blinded for one round.
6. Catastrophic breakdown occurs. Steam and metal is slung everywhere, Roll 4d8+4 for damage. Everyone within a 20 foot radius must roll a Constitution saving throw with a DC of 12. If you succeed, take half damage. This equipment is unusable until your next long rest.

Steam Powered Equipment
If any Steam Powered Equipment rolls a critical success, roll a d6
1. You're getting used to the heat of the steam. This equipment grants resistance to fire for one minute to its user. If you have resistance you gain immunity.
2. This equipment is running better then expected. This equipment gets a +1 until next long rest. This can stack to +4 max.
3. The equipment assists you in a useful situation. You may take another action.
4. The Steam Core is extra hot right now. Next roll is with advantage.
5. Your machine gets temporarily overclocked. If this equipment is armor, you gain 20 extra move speed. If this equipment is a weapon, add 1d6 damage. This lasts until your next long rest.
6. Failsafes have been effective. You do not have to roll for the next Critical failure.

Steam Powered Supercharge

Fifth Level Steamsmith Feature

A Steam Powered Supercharge allows you to pick one Steam Powered Equipment and roll a d4 as an action. On a 1 or 2, roll on the Steam Powered Equipment Critical Fail board. On a 3 or 4, Roll from the Steam Powered Equipment Critical Success board.

Fifth Level Steamsmith Feature

You may roll 1d6 at each long rest. You may use one of these number instead of a number you rolled on a critical fail or success.

A Tamed Core

Ninth Level Steamsmith Feature

You've learned how to control the core, bend it to your will as you desire. You may roll the critical failure/success dice twice and pick one or both options.

The Perfection Of Steam

Fifteenth Level Steamsmith Feature

You may now pick two numbers on critical failure/success dice. You also may now choose if you succeed or fail on a Steam Powered Overclock.
