Base Class: Bard
Harness the power of chaos to bend reality and bewilder foes!
Bards from the College of Chaos are agents of disorder, channeling unpredictable magic through their performances. Their songs distort probability, their words defy logic, and their mere presence turns battle into a whirlwind of bedlam. Many mistake them for reckless troublemakers, but in truth, they are artists of anarchy, improvising both fate and melody alike.
Level 3: Bonus Proficiencies
You gain proficiency with three skills of your choice.
Level 3: Chaotic Performance
When you join this college at 3rd level, your performances tap into chaotic magic. Whenever you use your Bardic Inspiration, roll on the Chaotic Inspiration Table below instead of granting a standard die. The result determines how your inspiration affects the target.
Chaotic Inspiration Table (1d6)
d6 Effect
1 The target rolls the Bardic Inspiration die and regains that many temporary hit points.
2 The target rolls the Bardic Inspiration die and adds the number to their next saving throw instead of an attack or ability check.
3 The target rolls the Bardic Inspiration die and instead forces an enemy within 30 feet to subtract that number from their next saving throw.
4 The target rolls the Bardic Inspiration die and immediately moves up to half their movement speed without provoking opportunity attacks.
5 The target rolls the Bardic Inspiration die and casts the Thaumaturgy or Minor Illusion cantrip (their choice) as a free action.
6 The target rolls the Bardic Inspiration die. They may add or subtract the number from their next attack roll, ability check, or saving throw (their choice).
Level 6: Chaotic Crescendo
Your performances pull raw chaos into the world, distorting reality. You can unleash a Chaotic Crescendo once per long rest or by expending a Bardic Inspiration die.
As a bonus action, roll on the Chaotic Crescendo Table and unleash the effect.
Chaotic Crescendo Table (1d8)
d8 Effect
1 A burst of wild energy surges out. Each creature in a 10-foot radius (including yourself) must make a Constitution saving throw or be pushed 10 feet in a random direction.
2 You teleport up to 30 feet to an unoccupied space you can see. Each creature within 5 feet of your original position takes force damage equal to your Bard level.
3 Spectral echoes of music ripple outward. All creatures within 30 feet must succeed on a Wisdom saving throw or be charmed or frightened (your choice) until the end of your next turn.
4 The air distorts around you. Until the start of your next turn, all ranged attack rolls targeting you or creatures within 5 feet of you have disadvantage.
5 A wave of confusion spreads. One creature of your choice within 30 feet must succeed on an Intelligence saving throw or take 3d6 psychic damage and be unable to take reactions until the end of its next turn.
6 A surge of energy restores vitality. You and all allies within 10 feet gain temporary hit points equal to your Charisma modifier + half your Bard level.
7 A harmless but dazzling illusion surrounds you, altering your appearance wildly for 1 minute. You have advantage on Charisma-based ability checks during this time.
8 Pure chaos infuses you. Roll twice on this table and apply both results. If you roll an 8 again, roll three times instead.
Level 14: Unravel Reality
At 14th level, your connection to chaos deepens, allowing you to twist fate itself.
As a reaction, when a creature within 30 feet makes an attack roll, ability check, or saving throw, you can roll a Bardic Inspiration die and apply the result as a bonus or penalty to the roll.
Additionally, when you cast a spell of 1st level or higher, you can choose to roll on the Wild Magic Surge Table from the Wild Magic Sorcerer subclass instead of expending the spell slot. Once you use this feature, you can’t do so again until you finish a long rest.
