Base Class: Barbarian
Barbarians who walk the Path of the Lycan draw their rage from a bestial curse that flows through their veins. That curse bursts forth in the throes of rage, physically transforming the barbarian. The curse of lycanthropy turns its victim into a savage predator with heightened senses, a fiery temper, and a tendency to eat rare meat.
A lycanthrope can either resist its curse or embrace it. By resisting the curse, it lives its life as it always has, burying deep the bestial urges raging inside it. However, when the full moon rises, the curse becomes too strong to resist, transforming the individual into its beast or hybrid form. When the moon wanes, the beast within can be controlled once again. Especially if the cursed creature is unaware of its condition, it might not remember the events of its transformation, though those memories often haunt a lycanthrope as bloody dreams. Some individuals see little point in fighting the curse and accept what they are. With time and experience, they learn to master their shapechanging ability and can enter a bestial rage at will. However, most lycanthropes that embrace their bestial natures succumb to bloodlust, becoming evil, opportunistic creatures that prey on the weak.
Heightened Senses
3rd-level Path of the Lycan feature
You gain advantage on Wisdom (Perception) checks that rely on hearing or smell.
Lycanthropic Rage
3rd-level Path of the Lycan feature
When you enter your rage, you can transform, revealing the bestial power within you. You can speak, use equipment, and wear armor in this form.
In the Character Builder, set the option for Lycanthropic Rage to Hybrid Form to activate the bonuses for that form on the character sheet.
Hybrid Form
Selecting this option has updated the character sheet with the features of your Hybrid Form.
Normal Form
Your character is in their normal form. Change this option to "Hybrid Form" or "Wolf Form" when the character has transformed.
Lycanthropic Rage Features
While you are transformed, you gain the following features:
Bestial Bloodlust. If you begin your turn with no more than half of your maximum hit points, you must succeed on a DC 8 Wisdom saving throw or move directly towards the nearest creature to you and use the Attack action against that creature. You can choose whether or not to use your Extra Attack feature for this frenzied attack. If there is more than one possible target, roll to randomly determine the target. You then regain control for the remainder of your turn.
Starting at 10th level, you have advantage on the saving throw caused by the Bestial Bloodlust feature.
Bite of the Wolf
Your mouth transforms into a bestial muzzle. It deals 1d8 piercing damage on a hit. Once on each of your turns when you damage a creature with this bite, you regain a number of hit points equal to your proficiency bonus, provided you have less than half your hit points when you hit. A humanoid hit by this attack must succeed on a Constitution saving throw (DC equal to 8 + your Constitution modifier + your proficiency bonus) or become afflicted by werewolf lycanthropy.
Claws of the Wolf
Each of your hands transforms into a claw, which you can use as a weapon if it’s empty. It deals 1d6 slashing damage on a hit. Once on each of your turns when you attack with a claw using the Attack action, you can make one additional claw attack as part of the same action.
Hide of the Wolf
You have resistance to bludgeoning, piercing, and slashing damage from nonmagical attacks not made with silver weapons.
While you are not wearing any armor, you gain a +1 bonus to your AC.
Stalker's Prowess
6th-level Path of the Lycan feature
At 6th level, you gain the following features:
Improved Weapons of the Wolf
The feral power within you increases, causing the natural weapons of your Lycanthropic Rage to count as magical for the purpose of overcoming resistance and immunity to nonmagical attacks and damage. You gain a +1 bonus to attack rolls made with your natural weapons. This bonus increases by 1 at 10th level.
Improved Weapons of the Wolf (level 10)
You gain a +1 bonus to attack rolls made with your natural weapons. This bonus increases by 1 at 10th level.
Speed of the Wolf
Your walking speed increases by 10 feet while in your hybrid form.
Infectious Fury
10th-level Path of the Lycan feature
When you hit a creature with your natural weapons while you are raging, the beast within you can curse your target with rabid fury. The target must succeed on a Wisdom saving throw (DC equal to 8 + your Constitution modifier + your proficiency bonus) or suffer one of the following effects (your choice):
- The target must use its reaction to make a melee attack against another creature of your choice that you can see.
- The target takes 2d12 psychic damage.
You can use this feature a number of times equal to your proficiency bonus, and you regain all expended uses when you finish a long rest.
Call the Hunt
14th-level Path of the Lycan feature
The beast within you grows so powerful that you can spread its ferocity to others and gain resilience from them joining your hunt. When you enter your rage, you can choose a number of other willing creatures you can see within 30 feet of you equal to your Constitution modifier (minimum of one creature). You gain 5 temporary hit points for each creature that accepts this feature. Until the rage ends, the chosen creatures can each use the following benefit once on each of their turns: when the creature hits a target with an attack roll and deals damage to it, the creature can roll a d6 and gain a bonus to the damage equal to the number rolled.
You can use this feature a number of times equal to your proficiency bonus, and you regain all expended uses when you finish a long rest.
