Base Class: Fighter
Most warriors rely on steel and strength, but you have learned to harness something far greater—your very soul. Through dark rituals or sheer force of will, you have forged your soul into a weapon, capable of rending the life force from your enemies. Every battle is a gamble, as the power you steal grants you strength but brings you ever closer to the abyss.
Reaving Strikes
At 3rd level, your attacks can wound more than just flesh. When you hit a creature with a melee weapon attack, you can choose to mark its soul. The next time you reduce a marked creature to 0 hit points, you can absorb part of its life force. You gain temporary hit points equal to your Fighter level + your Constitution modifier.
Additionally, marked creatures do not die immediately when reduced to 0 hit points. Instead, their soul is ripped from their body, and they become mindless husks for a number of rounds equal to your proficiency bonus before crumbling into dust.
You can use this ability a number of times equal to your proficiency bonus per long rest.
Devour Essence
At 7th level, your connection to the souls of the fallen deepens. When you kill a creature marked by your Reaving Strikes, you can siphon its power. Choose one benefit:
- Strength of the Fallen – You gain advantage on Strength checks and saving throws for 1 minute.
- Cursed Vitality – You regain hit points equal to half your Fighter level.
- Soul's Insight – You gain proficiency in one skill the creature had for 1 hour.
You can use this ability a number of times equal to your proficiency bonus per long rest.
Soulbound Resilience
At 10th level, your soul has grown accustomed to the energy it devours, granting you supernatural endurance. You gain resistance to necrotic and psychic damage.
Additionally, if you drop to 0 hit points, you can choose to consume a fragment of a soul you have stolen, instantly regaining hit points equal to your Fighter level + your Constitution modifier. Once you use this feature, you must finish a long rest before using it again.
Spirit Breaker
At 15th level, our attacks strike at the very essence of your enemies. When you hit a creature with a weapon attack, you can force it to make a Wisdom saving throw (DC = 8 + your proficiency bonus + your Constitution modifier). On a failure, the creature suffers one of the following effects (your choice):
- Shattered Mind – The creature is stunned until the start of your next turn.
- Withering Soul – The creature gains vulnerability to one damage type of your choice for 1 minute.
- Lingering Doom – The creature cannot regain hit points for 1 minute.
Once you use this ability, you must finish a short or long rest before using it again.
Harbinger of the Void
At 18th level, you have become a true master of soul reaving, standing on the precipice between life and death. When you kill a creature with your Reaving Strikes, you can absorb its essence completely, temporarily unlocking its full power.
For 1 minute, you can choose one of the following benefits:
- Overwhelming Might – Your melee weapon attacks deal an additional 2d12 necrotic damage, and your critical hits restore hit points equal to the damage dealt.
- Spectral Form – You gain resistance to all damage, and attacks against you have disadvantage.
- Soul Infusion – You can cast a spell the creature could cast before it died. You use Constitution as your spellcasting ability.
Once you use this ability, you must finish a long rest before using it again.
