Monk
Base Class: Monk

Some monks seek enlightenment, while others embrace balance in body and mind. But those who walk the Way of the Spectral Revenant are driven by something far more primal—an unshakable connection to the void between life and death. Whether through a near-death experience, a pact with lingering spirits, or sheer force of will, these warriors draw upon the power of the afterlife, channeling spectral fury into devastating combat techniques."

A Spectral Revenant does not fight with mere flesh and bone. When battle begins, they enter a state known as Soul Torrent—a meditative rage that fuels their strikes and fortifies their body against harm. While in this state, they summon a spectral maul, an ethereal manifestation of their will that crushes their enemies with ghostly force. Yet this power comes at a cost; the more they push their limits, the greater the risk of losing control, as the spirits bound to them exact their toll.

These monks move like phantoms, shifting between the material and ethereal planes to bypass obstacles and confound their foes. Their relentless assault is both precise and brutal, striking with a force that shakes the soul itself. But with every swing of their spectral weapon, they flirt with the edge of oblivion, walking the razor-thin boundary between mastery and madness. For a Spectral Revenant, the battlefield is not just a place of conflict—it is a proving ground where they defy death itself.

Level 3: Soul Torrent

Walking the line between life and death, a Spectral Revenant wields ghostly power to devastate their foes. Fueled by spectral rage, they summon an ethereal weapon and channel restless spirits, striking with relentless fury while risking their own stability. Masters of both the battlefield and the beyond, these monks blur the boundary between the material and ethereal realms, ensuring that even death cannot halt their vengeance.

As a bonus action, you can enter a meditative rage known as Soul Torrent. This state lasts for 1 minute or until you are incapacitated. While in Soul Torrent:

  • You gain resistance to bludgeoning, piercing, and slashing damage.
  • You cannot cast or concentrate on spells during this state.
  • Soul Torrent lasts until the end of your next turn, and it ends early if you don Heavy armor, wear a shield, or have the incapacitated condition. If your Soul Torrent is still active on your next turn, you can extend the Torrent for another round by doing one of the following:

    2. You take damage in combat.
    3. Force an enemy to make a saving throw.

  • Can resummon the Spectral Maul to your possession using a Bonus Action on your turn.
  • Can consume other magic weapons to capture the item’s magical properties for itself.

Level 3: Revenant's Toll

The monk’s spectral powers exact a heavy toll. Whenever you activate Soul Torrent, make a Wisdom saving throw. On a failure, you gain 1 stress point.

  • After accumulating 4 stress points, your spiritual energy destabilizes. At the start of your next turn, roll on the Revenant’s Toll Table below and resolve the effect. Your stress points reset to 0 after this roll.
