Sorcerer
Base Class: Sorcerer

Either by being a direct descendant of a superior spirit of ice or by having one inhabiting your body, Sorcerers of Winter have supreme control over the cold and sharp ice. Your fine control over this element allows you to both mold it in order to guard you and hinder your enemies with the extreme temperatures.

Deep inside your very soul, the hidden power of the ancient true ice lays dormant. A power said to be doted of an immense hunger, always creeping for something to freeze over....always longing for more to cover.

From layers of ice that serves as protection, to the sheet cold of pure Winter that hinders the movement of others, Winter Sorcerers have a big plethora of powers they can use in order to bring the situation to their side.

Winter Magic

You learn additional spells when you reach certain levels in this class, as shown on the Winter Spells table. Each spell counts as a sorcerer spell for you, but it doesn’t count against the number of sorcerer spells you know. These spells can’t be replaced when you gain a level in this class.

Winter Spells

7th Ice Storm, Elemental Bane
9th Cone of Cold, Magic Mirror

Ice Sculptor

Starting at level 3 you have learned how to alter the very essence of ice. Whenever you use any your metamagic feature on a spell that deals cold damage, you can add one of the following effects to the target creatures by expending an extra sorcery point:

Piercing Frost: The next time the creature receives any sort of healing, it gets reduced by 50%.

Shivering Cold: The creature has its speed reduced by 10 feet and has disadvantage on attacks of opportunity until the end of your next turn.

Ice Burn: The first time a creature takes cold damage from this spell they take an additional 1d6 cold damage and gain a stack of ice burn. For every stack, the creature takes an extra 1d6 of cold damage when they take cold damage. Stacks of ice burn are reduced by 1 at the end of your next turn if they don't gain another stack before then. If they take any fire damage, the number of ice burn stacks is reduced to 0. A creature can only have a maximun of stacks equal to your proficiency bonus.

Additionally, your ability to shape the ice to your will has allowed you to even shape the raw magic of certain spells, molding the magic formula within in order to adapt them to the frigid cold that runs through your veins.

Ice Sculptor Spell: You learn a damaging cantrip from the Sorcerer's spell list, which doesn't count for the maximun amount of cantrips you can learn.

Ice Enhancement: You can change the damage of your 'Ice Sculptor Spell' into cold damage without the need of using your 'Transmuted Spell' metamagic option.

Frost Body

Starting at 6th level your body has become one with the cold, being able to withstand extreme temperatures and the harsh frost of Winter, your metabolism has slowed at what normally would be an alarming rate, and your eyes give off a feeling of pure coldness. You gain proficiency in Intimidation checks and become resistant to both cold damage and the effects of extremely low temperatures.

Frost Enhancement: Your 'Ice Sculptor Spell' will now be able to apply your Charisma modifier to it's damage.

True Ice

At 14th level, your attunement to the cold has reached the point where the ice you produce has turned into true ice, an elemental force that freezes over anything it touches, spreading relentlessly until it has nothing else in its reach. Your 'Ice Sculptor' effects get empowered by the true ice, gaining the following benefits:

Piercing Frost: The healing reduction from Piercing Frost goes from 50% to 100% of the amount healed.

Shivering Cold: Shivering cold now reduces the creature's speed to half instead of reducing 10 feet of movement.

Ice Burn: Ice Burn's stacks no longer decrease if the creature hasn't received a stack on the last turn. Now every instance of fire damage reduces the stacks by one instead of removing all of them.

Moreover, as a reaction upon taking damage, you can encase yourself on a thick layer of true ice, negating all of the triggering damage, gaining an amount of thp equal to three times your Sorcerer level and becoming petrified until the start of your next turn.

You can use this feature once per long rest without any cost, or expend 5 sorcery points in order to use it again.

True Ice Enhancement: You can choose any spell of 3rd level or lower from the Sorcerer's spell list and add it to your 'Ice Scultor Spell' feature. You automatically learn that spell if you hadn't done it already and it gains all the previous enhancements.

Soul of Winter

When you reach level 18, you can transform into the avatar of Winter by channeling the pure essence of the spiritual powers within you. You gain the following benefits while you use your 'Innate Sorcery' feature:

  • Your body is covered in a thick layer of frost. You gain immunity to cold damage and resistance to fire damage
  • Your mind is filled with the sheer cold of Winter. You gain a bonus to Intelligence, Wisdom and Charisma saving throws equal to half your proficiency bonus.
  • An ice storm rages all around you, covering the ground in a thick layer of ice and filling the air with freezing cold winds. You become heavily obscured to others and all the area within 30 feet of you is considered to be difficult terrain for any creature of your choosing.

Winter Enhancement: Your 'Ice Sculptor Spell' now treats any resistance to cold damage as if it were neutral, and any immunity as if it was a resistance. These changes cannot be modified by any other means, like the 'Elemental Adept' feat for example.
