Barbarian
Base Class: Barbarian

The Undercity of Nedesh thrives on twisted science and desperate survival. Deep within its shadows, the greatest atrocities of progress are committed—not for morality, but for results. Among the city's most horrifying procedures is the forced rebirth of the flesh, an experiment meant to break the limits of mortality through chemical resurgence.

This process is not a gift, nor is it a choice. Some willingly undergo the mutation, seeking power at any cost. Others are victims, reshaped into monstrous weapons or failed experiments abandoned in the dark.

Regardless of how you came to be, you are now a living anomaly—a being that defies death, fueled by chemical fury and instincts not entirely your own.

You are not immortal, but you refuse to die. You are not a monster, but something unnatural stirs within.

Level 3: Chemically Awakened Fury

Your body is permanently altered by unstable but powerful mutations, flooding your system whenever you enter combat.

  • Aberrant Vitality – Your body has been reworked at a fundamental level, making you incredibly hard to kill.
    • You gain a bonus to death saving throws equal to your Constitution modifier (minimum +1).
    • When you succeed on a death saving throw, you immediately regain hit points equal to your Barbarian level + Constitution modifier instead of marking a success.
    • If you are stabilized but not healed, you regain 1 hit point after one minute instead of remaining unconscious.
  • Overwhelming Instincts – Your altered mind is hyper-responsive to threats, making it impossible to catch you off guard. You gain advantage on Perception checks that rely on smell or hearing, and while raging, you cannot be surprised.
  • Enhanced Predation – Your movement speed increases by 10 feet, and you ignore movement penalties from difficult terrain while raging.

Level 6: Ruinous Adaptation

Your mutation learns from pain, fueling your body with every wound sustained.

  • Threshold Resilience – When you fall below half HP, you gain temporary hit points equal to your Barbarian level at the start of each of your turns. This effect lasts until your rage ends.
  • Savage Recompense – When you grapple a creature or shove them prone, they take bludgeoning damage equal to your Strength modifier, as your enhanced musculature crushes them under pressure.

Level 10: Defiance of Flesh

The chemical bond within you has reached its peak, overriding your body's natural limits.

  • Survivor’s Wrath – If you are reduced to 0 hit points, you can make a Constitution saving throw (DC = 10 + half the damage taken). On a success, you instead drop to 1 HP and gain resistance to all damage until the start of your next turn. You can use this once per long rest.
  • Carnage Instinct – When you take damage while raging, you can use your reaction to move up to half your speed and make a melee attack against an enemy within range.

Level 14: The Apex Surge

Your body refuses to die. The chemicals force you to endure, driving you into an unrelenting onslaught.

  • Final Frenzy – When you would die, you can instead enter a state of unstoppable rampage. You fully heal, regain one use of rage, and for the next minute, you gain the following benefits:
    • Your attacks deal an additional 1d8 damage.
    • You are immune to the frightened and charmed conditions.
    • You gain resistance to all damage.
After the minute ends, you gain 2 levels of exhaustion. This ability can only be used once per long rest.
