Base Class: Barbarian
(This is my first homebrew subclass, and I'm rather new to DnD, so feedback for balance and suggestions would be appreciated)
Level 3: Reconstruction
At 3rd level, whenever you enter a rage your mechanical parts will begin to reconstruct themselfs and your body after taking damage. This allows you to regain 1d4 hitpoints at the beginning of each round, while raging. (This bonus increases by 1d4 at 6th, 10th and 14th level)
Level 6: Overclocking
At 6th level, whenever you enter a rage, you may choose to overclock your mechanical systems, allowing your mechanical parts to rage with you at the cost of their reliability.
While your Systems are overclocked your rage damage increase is doubled and you gain an additional action each round, but become vulnerable to lightning damage.
Once your overclocked Rage ends you take 2d6 fire damage, from your mechanical parts overheating (if you want to make this less punishing and instead a risk reward system, you may add a DC 16 constitution check.)
Level 10: Weaponry
At 10th level your mechanical parts have been upgraded, giving you access to multiple types of built in support weaponry, which can be activated using a bonus turn.
- A loud, one time use, Siren, which can be heard for 200ft. and draws the attention of all hostile creature within a 50ft. radius on you for 1 round.
- Two smoke canisters, that when opened create a 20ft. radius, in which all creatures without blindsight are blinded. (Can also be thrown up to 20ft + 5ft*str modifier.)
- Three darts, that can be coated in sleep, paralisis or poison woth a range of 30ft.:
Sleep: puts a creature, upon failing a DC 15 con check to sleep.
Paralisis: paralises a creature, upon failing a DC 16 con check.
Poison: blinds and causes 1d4 poison damage at the start of the creature turn, upon failing a DC 18 con check.
These effects wear off, upon a creature succeeding at a con check, of the same DC as the initial dart, at the start of their round.
You will be able to restock your weaponry on each long rest.
Level 14: Elemental Conductive Body
At 14th level, whenever you take damage by any non-physical attack, your mechanical parts conduct some of the release energy into your weapons, dealing an addational 1d6 damage of that Element on your next melee weapon attack. This effect stacks for each time you were hit (meaning being hit 3 times will result in 3d6 damage of potentially 3 different elements).
This damage is doubled, while overclocking your mechanical parts.

Posted Sep 5, 2025it is ofc encouraged, but you could for example also have just a prostetic arm or something along the lines. Basically aslong as you aren't 100% made of flesh (or rock or whatever else your custon race might be made out of) it works out. And ofc you can just change the flavor text to fit your character, if you like it. For example if you have a deep connection with nature it could be changed to barbarican of the forest and Reconstruction could instead be healing of the forest and overclocking could be natural instincts and change the fire to blunt damage, as you hurt yourself in your instinctal rage. DnD is your canvas, if you like an idea change it up and have fun with it.
tl:dr no

Posted Mar 26, 2025Hey, quick question. Do I gotta be a warforged for this subclass or no?
