Base Class: Fighter
Fencers, often trained from childhood, are fighters who attack with elegance and swiftness. Often wielding a rapier or longsword, they step back and forth between their opponents, stopping attacks and responding with kind with a swift slash to the throat. Many trained fencers are nobles who had teachers upon teachers, and family to motivate them. Some are those who lived in squalor, learning to defend themselves or fight against those who oppress them. No matter where they come from, elegance and speed are a guarantee, and are often the difference between life and death.
Parry and Riposte
Parrying and Riposting are often the earliest things learned by fencers. If an enemy comes to attack you with a melee attack, including weapons, claws, or bites, you can Parry their attack. Roll a DEX saving throw + proficiency bonus; if your roll beats the enemy's attack roll, you Parry the attack, negating all damage that would have been done. If the enemy is also within your attack range when you Parry them, you can Riposte them, which functions like a normal attack.
