Base Class: Warlock
The Carnage Warlock
Pact of Carnage
Your patron is a god of bloodshed, reveling in carnage, suffering, and sacrifice. Unlike other warlocks who bargain for power, you gain strength by offering your own vitality to fuel your devastating abilities. Your body becomes both a conduit for destruction and a living sacrifice to your patron's insatiable hunger. This pact is bound to mortals often by beings of extreme violence ranging from deities such as Bane, Loviatar, Bhaal, Malar, Myrkul, and Hextor, to lesser beings such as devils, and Vampire Lords.
Sacrificial Gift (3rd level)
When you take damage, you can use your reaction to gain temporary hit points equal to half the damage taken, and your next melee or spell attack before the end of your next turn deals additional damage equal to the damage you took (up to a max of your Warlock level + Charisma modifier).
You can use this feature a number of times equal to your proficiency bonus, regaining all expended uses on a long rest.
Carnage Spells (3rd level)
Expanded Spell List
The Carnage Patron Warlock grants you access to spells that embody blood magic, pain, and reckless combat.
| Warlock Level | Spells |
|---|---|
| 3 | Inflict Wounds, Scorching Ray, Immolate Rush, Bloodletting Strike |
| 5 | Melf's Minute Meteors, Rhoe Aias |
| 7 | Death Knell, Cage of Blood |
| 9 | Geas, Crimson Slaughter |
Burning Blood (6th level)
Your blood seethes with violent energy, turning your pain into a deadly force. As a bonus action, you can activate Burning Blood, causing your body to radiate destructive energy for 1 minute.
- At the start of each of your turns while this effect is active, you take damage equal to your Warlock level (cannot be reduced or negated).
- Whenever you take damage from any source, creatures of your choice within 10 feet take necrotic or fire damage (your choice) equal to half the damage you suffered.
- Last Resort: If you drop to 0 hit points while this feature is active, it erupts in a 20-foot radius explosion, dealing 4d10 fire or necrotic damage (your choice) to all creatures in range before the effect ends.
Once you use this feature, you can do so once again until you finish a long rest.
Scarlet Frenzy (10th level)
You become resistant to necrotic damage and immune to effects that reduce your hit point maximum. Additionally, your patron rewards your self-inflicted suffering:
- When you reduce yourself to half your hit points or lower, you regain a Pact Magic spell slot.
- If you drop to 0 hit points but are not outright killed, you can choose to drop to 1 hit point instead. You can do this once per long rest.
Crimson Cataclysm (14th level)
At 14th level, you fully embody the will of your patron, becoming a living conduit of bloodshed, murder, and sacrifice. When you activate this feature, you undergo a terrifying transformation for 1 minute, gaining the following benefits:
- Murderous Opportune: When you reduce a creature to 0 hit points, you can immediately make one weapon attack or cast a cantrip as a reaction.
- Endless Carnage Stamina: If you take damage, you regain half the damage dealt as temporary hit points at the start of your next turn (up to a maximum equal to your proficiency bonus).
- Drenched in Blood: Your body becomes wreathed in spectral blood, granting you resistance to bludgeoning, piercing, and slashing damage from non-magical attacks. If you already have resistance, you instead gain immunity to those damage types.
- The Butcher’s Toll: At the start of each of your turns, every creature of your choice within 10 feet takes necrotic damage equal to your Warlock level as the air thickens with the essence of slaughter.
Once you activate Crimson Cataclysm you cannot use it again until you finish a long rest, unless you sacrifice hit points equal to your Warlock level at the start of your turn to extend its duration by one additional round.
