Barbarian
Base Class: Barbarian

The Path of the Mindfire is a powerful and enigmatic path, one that merges the ferocity of the barbarian with the clarity of the mind. These warriors, known as Mindfires, forge their strength not through blind rage, but through a focused, controlled fury that burns brightly from within. The fire of their rage is not fueled by emotion, but by the inner clarity of the mind, sharpening their senses and amplifying their psionic powers.

Those who walk the Path of the Mindfire are not taught this way. They are drawn to it by an innate sense of purpose, a calling that comes from within. No teacher guides them; no school provides the knowledge. The Mindfire path is one of self-discovery, a path taken only by those who seek the depths of their own consciousness and the mental fortitude to harness that power. They are seekers, often solitary, forging their path alone through meditation, focus, and raw mental discipline.

Their journey is a personal odyssey, where mastery over the self and the world around them is the ultimate goal. This path requires both the strength to wield devastating physical force and the discipline to control their emotions, thoughts, and abilities. They are masters of the inner fire, channeling the clarity of their minds into explosive action in battle and a calming influence outside it. These barbarians wield psionic powers to protect their allies, read the emotions of others, and even heal wounds with their focused energy.

The Mindfire warriors stand apart with a quiet intensity, their appearance understated yet commanding. Dressed in minimal armor, they move with fluid grace, every action precise and controlled, like a master executing a perfect strike. Their eyes, sharp and calm, reflect the mental clarity they've achieved through years of discipline. In battle, their rage is not wild, but a focused blaze, channeled through psionic power into each blow. Rarely seen in groups, they prefer solitude or small trusted circles, speaking with measured words and communicating telepathically to forge deep, unspoken bonds. Their presence is not shouted but felt, a still center amidst the chaos, a promise of deadly force and unwavering loyalty.

Level 3: Zenlike Focus

Your Rage is no longer a state of reckless emotion but of perfect clarity. When you enter a Rage, you gain the normal benefits, but with the following modifications (because rage no longer is tied to anger or the like it recharges on a short rest as well)

  • You may use Dexterity instead of Strength for all Rage-related benefits.
  • Reckless Attack applies to Dexterity-based melee weapon attacks as well as Strength-based ones. It does not apply to ranged attacks.

Level 3: Vital Surge

You have learned to harness the power of your mind and body to heal and restore vitality. Through intense focus, you can channel your psionic energy into yourself or others, revitalizing wounds and injuries. You gain a pool of healing power that you can use to heal creatures. The pool has a number of hit points equal to 5 times your Barbarian level.

As an action, you can touch a creature and channel healing energy to restore hit points from this pool.

You cannot use this feature while Raging.

Level 3: Fighting Style

You adopt a particular style of fighting. Choose one of the following options:

Blind fighting

You have blindsight with a range of 10 feet. Within that range, you can effectively see anything that isn't behind total cover, even if you're blinded or in darkness. Moreover, you can see an invisible creature within that range, unless the creature successfully hides from you.

Two-Weapon Fighting

When engaging in two-weapon fighting, you can add your ability modifier to the damage of the second attack.

Level 3: Psychic Zeal

When you strike with your weapon, you channel psionic energy into the blow. While Raging, the first creature you hit in a round takes extra psychic damage equal to 1d6 + your proficiency bonus.

Level 6: Protective Focus

Your psionic abilities allow you to sense and shield your allies from harm. When a creature you can see within 30 feet is targeted by an attack, you can use your reaction to impose disadvantage on the attack roll.

You may use this feature a number of times per short or long rest equal to your proficiency bonus.

Level 6: Telepathic Communication

You can form a mental link with others. As an action, you may touch any number of creatures and form a telepathic bond. For the next 1d6 hours, you can communicate with them at any distance as long as you are on the same plane of existence.

This feature may be used once per short or long rest.

Level 6: Mental Echoes

Your telepathic senses allow you to pick up emotional imprints left behind. By meditating for 1 minute, you can sense lingering emotions in an area, object, or creature within the last 24 hours. If a creature died nearby within that time, you may sense the strongest emotion they felt before passing.

Level 10: Heightened Insight

Your mastery of emotions allows you to read others effortlessly. You gain permanent advantage on Insight checks to discern a creature’s emotions, intentions, or lies.

Level 10: Empowered Leap

Your psionic energy enhances your movement. As a bonus action, you can leap up to 30 feet in any direction without provoking opportunity attacks.

You can use this feature a number of times per short or long rest equal to your proficiency bonus.

Level 14: Unshackled Psionic Avatar

Your mind and body are unified, and your psionic energy flows freely. While Raging:

  • You become immune to charmed and frightened conditions unless you choose to be affected.
  • Any enemy that starts its turn within 10 feet of you takes psychic damage equal to your Constitution modifier.
  • When using Protective Focus, you may immediately teleport adjacent to the attacker as part of the reaction.

Additionally outside of rage, you can block or allow telepathic messages at will, preventing others from reading your thoughts unless you permit them.
