Paladin
Base Class: Paladin

A master of lance retrofitted with firearms that compensates for its lack of range with black powder. The firelancers are those who worship gods related to combustion or explosion. In many ways, they revere the destructive power of the black powder but learn how to protect themselves from high impact. In a way, they master the arts of slow and steady offense mixed with defense. Some would say the bowguneers come from an old clan of Blacksmoke, which is the origin of Black Powder in the ancient era. With a historic culture of being priests, these firelancers set themself up to move to a new stage.

Level 3: Gunlance

You can perform a ritual of 8 hours to convert a glaive, lance, halbert, or spear into a gunlance. The gunlance is still considered its original weapon for purposes of features like Polearm Master, and it retains any magical properties its original form has. A gunlance can only be used by an Oath of the Firelance paladin.

  • The gunlance loses Thrown property, if it has one.
  • The gunlance has Ammunition property and has an additional ranged attack range of 5/30 feet on top of its melee range.
  • The gunlance attacks are considered melee weapon attacks for the purposes of meeting the requirements of any paladin spell you cast with "smite" in its name.
  • The gunlance can be wielded in one hand only if the other hand equips a shield.

Level 3: Smoldering Blade

As a Magic action, you can expend one use of your Channel Divinity to rev your blade into heating itself with fire. For 10 minutes or until you use this feature again, each time you cast a "smite" spell with the gunlance, your weapon gains 1d4 fire damage on its ranged attacks until this feature duration ends, up to a maximum of half your Firelance level. When you deal a critical hit on a melee weapon attack with the gunlance, you can immediately make a ranged weapon attack.

At 20th Paladin level, you can activate this feature by using your bonus action instead of your action.

Level 7: Aura of Accuracy

While in the aura, you and your allies increase their attack bonus and decrease their damage bonus equal to half of your Charisma score modifier. When you or an ally creature makes an attack roll with advantage, you can use your reaction to allow them to reroll one of their dice once (as if it is Elven Accuracy). Allies can choose to ignore this effect.

Level 15: Heavy Stance

When you roll initiative or by using your bonus action, you can choose to enter a Heavy Stance until you use your bonus action to end this effect. While on this stance, your speed has a max limit of 10, and your Extra Attack lets you attack three times instead of once whenever you take the Attack action on your turn. In addition, any AC you gain by wielding a shield is doubled, and external effects that would push you are negated. Additionally, you have an advantage on attacks made with the gunlance against creatures that are Huge or larger.

Level 20: Black Powder Blessing

As a Bonus Action, you can imbue your Aura of Protection with a sacred gunpowder blessing for 1 minute or until you end it (no action required). Once you use this feature, you can't use it again until you finish a Long Rest. You can also restore your use of it by expending a level 5 spell slot (no action required).

  • Holy Combustion - Your ranged attacks that deals fire damage can target an area of 5 feet radius instead of targeting one creature/object using the same attack roll.
  • Burning Sensation - Once per turn, when you make a saving throw and fail, you can choose to take 10d4 fire damage and reroll one of your dice.
  • Scalding Wind - Hostile creatures that enter your aura for the first time in a turn take 10d4 fire damage, healing you for the amount of damage dealt.
