Base Class: Paladin
Oath of the Soul
Paladins who swear the Oath of the Soul dedicate themselves to guiding lost spirits, easing the burdens of the dead, and ensuring that souls reach their rightful afterlife. These sacred warriors walk the boundary between life and death, serving as mediators, exorcists, and guardians of the departed.
Tenets of the Soul
Paladins who take this Oath follow strict tenets that guide their interactions with the living and the dead:
- Ease the Departed – Guide lost spirits to their final rest, whether by helping them resolve unfinished business or severing their tether to the mortal plane.
- Banish Malevolence – Destroy entities that seek to corrupt or exploit souls, including necromancers, fiends, and malevolent undead.
- Honor the Cycle – Life and death are natural; disrupting the balance with reckless resurrection or soul entrapment is a grave sin.
- Comfort the Grieving – Aid those who mourn, offering them peace and understanding while discouraging obsession with the dead.
Channel Divinity
When you take this oath at 3rd level, you gain the following two Channel Divinity options.
Spirit Severance. As an action, you present your holy symbol and forcefully sever a spirit’s unnatural ties to the world. Each fiend or undead within a 5ft radius must make a wisdom saving throw. On a failed save, the target takes 2d8 radiant damage and is stunned until the end of your next turn, or until it takes damage. On a successful save, the creature takes half as much damage and is unaffected by the stunned condition. If the creature has 10 hit points or fewer, it is immediately passed on to the afterlife.
Echo of the Fallen. As a bonus action, when a creature you can see within a 30ft radius is reduced to half its hit points or fewer, you can grant them temporary hit points equal to your Charisma modifier + Paladin level (minimum of 1). The creature also gains advantage on its next attack roll or saving throw until the end of its next turn.
