Rogue
Base Class: Rogue

Some rogues hide in the shadows so frequently they swear they can begin to hear its whispers, and even fewer learn how to whisper back. Over time they learn how to convince the shadows to take the form of enchantments, illusions, and occasionally deadly forces. Rouges who gain these abilities are often favored or feared spies, assassins, and adventurers.

Level 3: Spellcasting

When you reach 3rd level, you gain the ability to cast spells. See Spells Rules for the general rules of spellcasting and the Spells Listing for the sorcerer spell list.

Cantrips

You learn three cantrips: mage hand and two other cantrips of your choice from the sorcerer spell list. You learn another sorcerer cantrip of your choice at 10th level.

Shadow Spells

Your connection to shadows allows you access to certain spells outside of the schools of enchantment and illusion. You gain access to these spells at specific levels and can only access one spell from each group. When you reach a level that grants access to another group of spells, you can change a previously chosen spell.

The spells are as follows:

Level 3:  shield, magic missile
Level 7: darkness, darkvision
Level 13:  clairvoyance, gaseous form
Level 19: blight, shadow blast

13th Level: Clairvoyance, Gaseous Form

Commune with the shadow to survey far-off places or make your body a wispy shadow itself. You always have the Clairvoyance or Gaseous Form spell prepared.

19th Level: Blight, Shadow Blast

You can will the darkness to consume a creature's vitality or ensnare them forcefully. You always have the Blight or Shadow Blast Spell prepared.

3rd Level: Magic Missile , Shield

You choose to gather darkness to fire motes of shadow or solidify into a protective barrier. You always have the magic missile or shield spell prepared.

7th Level: Darkness, Darkvision

Command shadows to black out an area, or allow sight in the dark. You always have the Darkness or Darkvission spell prepared.

Level 3: Shaded Mage Hand

Starting at 3rd level, when you cast Mage Hand while in complete darkness, you can make the spectral hand invisible, and you can perform the following additional tasks with it:

  • You can stow one object the hand is holding in a container worn or carried by another creature.
  • You can retrieve an object in a container worn or carried by another creature.
  • You can use thieves' tools to pick locks and disarm traps at range.

You can perform one of these tasks without being noticed by a creature if you succeed on a Dexterity (Sleight of Hand) check contested by the creature's Wisdom (Perception) check.

In addition, you can use the bonus action granted by your Cunning Action to control the hand.

Level 9: Shades Sight

Starting at level 3 your connection with the shadows gives you the ability to peer through darkness of all kinds. You can see normally in darkness, both magical and nonmagical, to a distance of 120 feet.

Level 13: Dark Step

At 13th level, you gain the ability to step from one shadow into another. When you are in dim light or darkness, as a reaction, you can teleport up to 120 feet to an unoccupied space you can see that is also in dim light or darkness. You then have +2 bonus to your AC until the start of your next turn. You can do this a number of times equal to your proficiency bonus.

Level 17: Shadow Cloak

Starting at level 17 you can cloak yourself in enough shadows to grant yourself darkness without affecting others.

As a bonus action, you can activate Shadow Cloak until the end of your next turn, allowing you to use any ability that requires Darkness even when in dim or bright light. Additionally, when you activate this ability while in darkness, you gain advantage on all your attack rolls, as though you are hidden. You can do this a number of times equal to your Charisma modifier.
