Warlock
Base Class: Warlock

You were alone. No where to run, no one to turn to. You looked to the sky and cried out for help. You only expected a response from the gods, if you expected a response at all. What you didn't expect was the stars to answer...

You made a pact with an Az'tharyn, an astral being from the Upper Planes, residing within the physical form of the stars. It's difficult to understand the true intent of these deities as they can vary drastically. Some only wish for an heir, while others may wish for the destructions of realms. Az'thaearek inhabit the physical space of celestial bodies. Most Astral Born Az'thaearek inhabit vortexes, neutron stars, the more powerful bodies. Material Born Az'thaearek tend to inhabit younger bodies, like most stars, comets, or large meteors

Az'tharyn Descent

You were contacted by an Az'tharyn, a being residing on their own subsectors of the Astral Plane. You are directly related to them down hundreds of generations. It took this long for someone in your family to be considered worthy of being their heir, but you were chosen. (You choose whether or not your character knows they're related to their patron).

Astral-born Az'tharyn Descent

Your Az'tharyn ancestor was born on the Astral Plane, in the heart of a celestial body. Centuries ago they descended upon the Material Plane to find a lover and start an Eldritch Bloodline. You were the one deemed worthy enough to be their heir. You gain resistance to Necrotic damage

Material-born Az'tharyn Descendant

Your Az'tharyn ancestor was born on the Material Plane, just like you. They went on the same journey to reach ascension as you. You gain resistance to Psychic damage

Level 3: Az'thearek Spells

The magic of your patron ensures you always have certain spells ready; when you reach a Warlock level specified in the Az'thearek Spells table, you thereafter always have the listed spells prepared.

Az'thearek Spells
Warlock Level Spells
3 Starry Wisp, Dancing Lights, Dissonant Whispers, Healing Word, Detect Thoughts, Alter Self, Magic Circle, Mass Healing Word
5 Ice Storm, Dimension Door, Greater Restoration, Contact Other Plane
6 Planar Ally, Circle of Death
9 Meteor Swarm, Weird

Level 6: Blood of the Divine

When you reduce an enemy to 0 Hit Points, you may use an action to perform a ritual blood sacrifice to your patron. Doing this allows you to gain Temporary Hit Points equal to your Wisdom modifier plus your Warlock level (minimum of 1 Temporary Hit Point).

Level 10: Partial Ascension

You've grown stronger, and your Az'tharyn patron has determined that you are a good fit as their heir. Your appearance progressively shifts to look more Astral, and you may choose to visit your Astral demiplane in your dreams. Appearance changes happen unconsciously and cannot be controlled, but your dreams are lucid and can easily be manipulated.

Once per turn when you hit a creature with an attack roll, you can attempt to rend the creature's mind and distort it's perception of reality. The target must succeed on a Wisdom saving throw against your spell save DC. If they fail, your and your party's image becomes distorted and shifts to incomprehensible horrors. The target takes 8d10 Psychic damage, and it is rendered Incapacitated until the end of your next turn, when their perception of reality returns to normal.

Once you use this feature, you can’t use it again until you finish a Long Rest unless you expend a Pact Magic spell slot (no action required) to restore your use of it.
