Rogue
Base Class: Rogue

Fey Assassins are enigmatic figures who walk the fine line between the mundane and the magical. Born under the twilight of the Feywild, they possess an otherworldly charm and a penchant for tricks that blur the boundaries of reality. While they may appear to be mere rogues, skilled in the arts of stealth and deception, they are infused with the chaotic magic of the Fey, granting them abilities that bewilder and confound those who dare to cross their path.

These assassins are often seen as messengers or agents of the Fey courts, tasked with carrying out clandestine missions that serve the whims of powerful fey lords and ladies. Their unparalleled skill in ambush tactics makes them formidable foes, capable of vanishing in an instant only to reappear at the most unexpected moment. They strike not just with blades, but with captivating illusions and bewitching charms that leave their targets reeling in confusion and terror.

Fey Assassins thrive in environments where the boundaries between light and shadow blend seamlessly. Whether working alone or as part of a larger cabal of rogues, they embrace the unpredictable nature of their existence. The Feywild’s chaotic essence courses through their veins, granting them the ability to manipulate attractions and fears, rendering them both allies and adversaries of a curious nature.

Many Fey Assassins have an unpredictable flair, using their magical abilities to enthrall and deceive before delivering a cold, precise strike. Their methods can vary dramatically—from killing swiftly and efficiently to lingering in the shadows, reveling in the terror they instill. Whatever their motive, be it vengeance, profit, or amusement, the Fey Assassin embodies the capricious nature of the fey, reminding all that sometimes, the most dangerous adversaries are the ones shrouded in mystery.

Level 3: Fey Magic

When you choose this archetype at 3rd level, your connection to the Fey grants you unusual powers. You gain the following benefits:

  • Fey Magic: You learn to cast Charm Person, Misty Step, and Hunter's Mark at will without needing to follow the normal rules of spellcasting.

  • Fey Tricks: You gain proficiency in the Performance, Persuasion and Deception skills if you don’t already have them. If you are already proficient in any of those skills, you can choose another skill from the Rogue skill list to gain proficiency in.

Level 3: Fey Tactics

Your experience in the Feywild has honed your abilities to strike efficiently. You can now use your Sneak Attack even if your target has taken the Dodge action, as long as you have advantage on the attack roll, or an ally is within 5 feet of the target.

Level 9: Otherworldly Evasion

At 9th level, you can use your connection to the Fey to slip from danger unexpectedly. When you make a Dexterity saving throw to avoid an effect, you can add your Rogue level as a bonus to the roll. If you succeed on the saving throw, you can use your reaction to teleport up to 30 feet to an unoccupied space that you can see, appearing in a swirl of fey energy.

Level 13: Fey Ambush

At 13th level, you can blend into the surrounding natural environment. When you are in dim light or darkness, you can use the Hide action as a bonus action. Additionally, when you hit a creature with a Sneak Attack, the creature must make a Wisdom saving throw against your spell save DC. On a failed save, the creature becomes frightened until the end of your next turn as vivid images of the Feywild overwhelm its senses.

Level 17: Hidden in Plain Sight

At 17th level, you become adept at masking your presence. As a bonus action, you can become invisible until the start of your next turn. This ability can be used a number of times equal to your proficiency bonus, and you regain all expended uses when you finish a long rest. The invisibility fades if you attack or cast a spell while invisible.
