Base Class: Warlock
Your patron is not a god, demon, or eldritch horror—it is suffering itself. You have made a pact with an entity that embodies sorrow, loss, and regret. This pact grants you powers fueled by anguish, both your own and that of those around you.
Level 3: Sorrowful Aura
3rd level Pained Soul feature
Your aura radiates an oppressive melancholy. When a creature starts its turn within 10 feet of you, it must make a Wisdom saving throw against your spell save DC. On a failure, the creature has disadvantage on its next attack roll or ability check before the end of its turn. Creatures that are immune to being frightened are unaffected.

Level 6: Cutting Words, Cutting Flesh
6th level Pained Soul feature
You have learned to channel your own suffering into power. As a bonus action, you can take 1d8 psychic damage to add an equal amount to one attack roll, ability check, or saving throw you make before the end of your turn.
When you take necrotic or psychic damage, you can use your reaction to gain temporary hit points equal to half the damage taken.
Level 10: Wretched Comfort
10th level Pained Soul feature
Your connection to suffering has made you resilient to pain, and you find solace in the shadows. You gain the following benefits:
- Shadow’s Embrace – When you are in dim light or darkness, you can use a bonus action to become invisible for 1 minute. This invisibility does not break when you attack or cast a spell, but it ends early if you enter bright light. You can use this feature a number of times equal to your Charisma modifier (minimum of once), regaining all expended uses when you finish a long rest.
- Misery Loves Company – When a creature within 30 feet of you deals damage to you, you can use your reaction to force them to share your pain. The attacker takes psychic damage equal to half the damage they dealt to you (ignoring resistance). You can use this reaction a number of times equal to your proficiency bonus per long rest.
Your suffering is not a weakness—it is your greatest weapon.
Level 14: Abyss of Despair
14th level Pained Soul feature
You can unleash the full weight of your despair upon those around you. As an action, you force all creatures of your choice within 30 feet to make a Wisdom saving throw against your spell save DC. On a failure, a creature is overwhelmed with sorrow, becoming stunned until the end of its next turn. Even on a success, creatures have disadvantage on attack rolls and saving throws until the end of their next turn.
Once you use this feature, you can't use it again until you finish a short or long rest.
