Base Class: Warlock
Your patron is the Soul Engine, an unfathomable entity that exists beyond the cycle of life and death. It is not a god, nor is it a mere machine—it is a construct of entropy itself, consuming and repurposing souls to fuel its inscrutable design. As its warlock, you are granted a fraction of its power, your own soul bound to the Engine’s eternal mechanisms.
Level 3: Soulbound Conduit
1st-level Soul Engine feature
Your connection to the Soul Engine allows you to manipulate the dead. When a creature non-Undead you can see within 30 feet is reduced to 0 hit points, you can use your reaction to take control of its empty vessel. Revive the creature as an undead under your control with {{classlevel+modifier:cha@min:1#unsigned}} maximum hit points. The creature loses 1d6 hit points at the start of each of its turns. You have uses of this feature equal to your proficiency bonus per short rest.
Additionally, when you cast a warlock spell that deals damage, you can choose for it to deal necrotic or force damage instead of its normal type.
Level 3: Soul Engine Spells
1st-level Soul Engine feature
The Soul Engine lets you choose from an expanded spell list when you learn a warlock spell. The following spells are added to the warlock spell list for you.
| Spell Level | Spells |
|---|---|
| 1st | inflict wounds, identify |
| 2nd | moonbeam, spiritual weapon |
| 3rd | counterspell, revivify |
| 4th | phantasmal killer, locate creature |
| 5th | wall of force, reincarnate |
Level 6: Inevitable Reclamation
6th-level Soul Engine feature
The Soul Engine claims what is lost. When you reduce a creature to 0 hit points with a warlock spell or cantrip, you can immediately regain a warlock spell slot (once per short rest)
Additionally, you learn the speak with dead spell and can cast it once per long rest without expending a spell slot. When you do, the spirit you commune with speaks as if still bound to fate, sometimes offering glimpses of possible futures.
Level 10: Clockwork Immortality
10th-level Soul Engine feature
The Engine’s influence over your soul grants you unnatural resilience. You gain resistance to necrotic and force damage.
Additionally, when you fail a death saving throw, you can choose to succeed instead. Once you use this feature, you cannot do so again until you finish a long rest.
Level 14: Final Override
14th-level Soul Engine feature
You may momentarily rewrite fate itself, claiming the souls of the fallen for your patron. As an action, you can force any number of creatures of your choice within 60 feet that are currently at 0 hit points to immediately fail two death saving throws. If a creature dies as a result of this feature, you regain a number of hit points equal to twice your warlock level and a warlock spell slot.
Once you use this feature, you can’t do so again until you finish a long rest.
