Sorcerer
Base Class: Sorcerer

Your innate magic comes not from death or flame or storm, but from the subtle pressure that lives at the edge of light. You are bound to the twilight veil, the liminal space where day gives way to night — where warmth lingers but no longer glows, and truth hides but never disappears.

Some born to this power inherit it from a forgotten celestial, others from an ancient pact sealed during a moment of emotional gravity — a kiss never given, a name whispered across time, or a sacrifice unmade. Your soul hums with the quiet ache of near-connection: longing without fulfillment, desire without release.

You don’t wield shadow. You cast light in its direction, then follow where it leads.

Twilight Corona Quirks

d6 Quirk
1 Your body is always warm, but your shadow is strangely cool to the touch.
2 Light never fully reaches your face — even in full sunlight, you are softly backlit.
3 When you sing or speak with emotion, the space around you subtly dims or flickers.
4 You find yourself attracted to things just out of reach — doors half open, voices behind walls, distant fires.
5 Your heartbeat echoes softly in your ears, like a memory of someone else's longing.
6 Mirrors sometimes hesitate to show your reflection in full clarity.

Twilight Corona Features

Sorcerer Level Feature
1st Eyes of the Edge
3rd Ember of the Willful, Eyes of the Edge (see invisibility)
6th Gloam Companion
14th Corona Step
18th Heart of Dusk

Eyes of the Edge

Your sight adjusts not just to darkness, but to contrast — you see the world as a painter sees chiaroscuro. You gain darkvision out to 120 feet.

At 3rd level, you learn the see invisibility spell, which doesn’t count against your number of sorcerer spells known. You can cast it using a spell slot, or by spending 2 sorcery points. When cast using sorcery points, the spell’s duration increases to 1 hour, and for the duration you also have advantage on Wisdom (Perception) checks that rely on sight.

Ember of the Willful

When you fall, your spirit flares, clinging to consciousness with raw emotion and the refusal to vanish.

  • When damage reduces you to 0 HP, you may make a Charisma saving throw (DC 5 + damage taken).
  • On a success, you instead drop to 1 HP.
  • You cannot use this feature if the damage was radiant or a critical hit.
  • Once it succeeds, it cannot be used again until a long rest.

Gloaming Companion

At 6th level, you gain the ability to summon a formless being of emotional residue — a Gloaming Companion — to haunt and harass your foes. As a bonus action, you can spend 3 sorcery points to magically summon a companion to target one creature you can see within 120 feet of you. The companion uses the specter statistics (see the Monster Manual or appendix C in the Player’s Handbook), with the following changes:

  • The companion counts as a monstrosity, not undead.
  • It appears with a number of temporary hit points equal to half your sorcerer level.
  • The companion retains its Incorporeal Movement trait and its penalties.
  • At the start of its turn, the companion automatically knows its target's location. If the target was hidden, it is no longer hidden from the companion.

The companion appears in an unoccupied space of your choice within 30 feet of the target. Roll initiative for the companion. On its turn, it can move only toward its target by the most direct route, and it can use its action only to attack its target. The companion can make opportunity attacks, but only against its target. Additionally, while the companion is within 5 feet of the target, the target has disadvantage on saving throws against any spell you cast. The Gloam disappears after 5 minutes, or if it or its target is reduced to 0 hit points.

Corona Step

At 14th level, you can step through radiant tension — disappearing from one corona and reappearing in another.

While you are in bright light, you can use a bonus action to teleport up to 60 feet to a space you can see that is also in bright light. You do not need to see the path — only the destination.

Heart of Dusk

At 18th level, you can suffuse your form with the full sorrow and beauty of the twilight corona. You become a living silhouette, filled not with emptiness, but with emotion too vast to hold a shape. Your voice and presence shimmer like candlelight through silk.

As a bonus action, spend 6 sorcery points to take this form. In this form, you gain resistance to all damage except force and psychic damage, and you can move through other creatures and objects as if they were difficult terrain (take 5 force damage if you end your turn inside one).

You remain in this form for 1 minute. It ends early if you are incapacitated, if you die, or if you dismiss it as a bonus action.
