Base Class: Bard
Bards of the College of Humor focus not on music but the art of comedy, using their quick wits to level devastating punchlines charged with magical energy. They are among the more subtle subclasses of Bard, usually indistinguishable from the average person until they crack a quick joke and a goblin falls over dead.
The College of Humor itself is located in Kanton, and got it's origins in political satire.
Level 3: Set Up
When you extend a use of your Bardic Inspiration, you can choose a creature you can see to set up a joke against. Before the start of your next turn, whenever that creature takes damage, it takes additional psychic damage equal to that roll.
Starting at 6th level, the creature has advantage on attacks made against it during that time.
Starting at 9th level, the creature has disadvantage on all attack rolls and skill checks made during that time.
Starting at 12th level, the creature has disadvantage on all saving throws for that time.
Level 3: Colloquial Comedy
You know how to lighten the mood in a conversation. You can choose to gain Proficiency in the Persuasion and Deception skills, or Expertise in one of the two.
Additionally, when making a check with one of these skills, you can roll your Bardic Inspiration die and add that roll to the check (after rolling but before knowing if you succeed). This does not expend the die, and you can do this a number of times per Long Rest equal to your Proficiency Bonus.
Colloquial Comedy - Expertise - Deception
You gain Expertise in Deception.
Colloquial Comedy - Expertise - Persuasion
You gain Expertise in Persuasion.
Colloquial Comedy - Proficiency
You gain proficiency is Persuasion and Deception.
Level 6: Quick Wit
When a creature hits you with an attack, you can use a reaction to insult their attempt. You gain a bonus to your AC for that attack equal to your Proficiency Bonus.
Additionally, if the attack now misses, you can immediately use your Bardic Inspiration feature as part of this reaction, though if using your Set-Up feature with it, you can only choose the creature that missed the attack.
Level 14: The Essence of Comedy
You are now, as objectively as possible, funny. When using your Set-Up feature, you can now choose two creatures as targets instead of one. If a creature under the effect of your Set-Up feature is reduced to 0 hit points, you regain one use of your Bardic Inspiration die if possible.
Additionally, you automatically succeed on any saving throws caused by a creature under the effect of your Set-Up feature, and an attack by such a creature against you cannot hit unless it is a critical hit.
