Base Class: Monk
Some monks dedicate themselves to rigorous discipline, training their bodies and minds to perfection. Others, like those who follow the Way of the Fortunate Soul, seem to simply stumble into greatness. Whether through supernatural luck, fate’s favor, or an innate connection to fortune, these monks possess an uncanny ability to land on their feet, turn failure into success, and shape destiny itself.
Lucky Number
At the start of each day, roll a d20 to determine your Lucky Number. This number represents a hidden thread of fate woven into your day. Whenever you roll this number on a d20 test, it is considered the minimum result needed for success, if success is possible. Additionally, you gain a boon based on the type of roll:
-
Ability Check: When you roll your Lucky Number on an ability check, you can choose one creature who can see or hear you (including yourself). That creature adds your Martial Arts die to its next ability check before the end of its next turn.
-
Attack Roll: Your attack finds an opening. You deal an additional Martial Arts die in damage to the target.
-
Saving Throw: Luck shields you from harm. You gain temporary hit points equal to your Martial Arts die + your monk level
Third Times The Charm
Your connection to fate allows you to bend fortune further in your favor. Whenever you roll with advantage, roll three d20s instead of two and take the highest result.
Lucky Critical
Your Lucky Number is now a critical success on all d20 tests. Whenever you roll your Lucky Number, treat it as a natural 20 for all effects. Additionally, when you roll a natural 20, you also gain the benefits of your Lucky Number.
Rewrite Fate
Your luck has reached supernatural heights, allowing you to impose your fortune on the world around you. When you or a creature within 30 feet rolls a d20, you can use your reaction to replace their roll with your Lucky Number instead. After using this feature, immediately roll a new Lucky Number to replace your previous one.
You can use this feature a number of times equal to your Wisdom modifier (minimum of once), regaining all expended uses when you finish a long rest.
