Base Class: Fighter
Through fate, devil fruit power, or some profound calling, you have become the living vessel for the nine heroic spirits once bound by unwavering loyalty to Kozuki Oden. These souls are the Akazaya or Red Scabbards — renowned samurai of legend — who persist in the world through your mortal form. Unfettered by death, they manifest as echoes on the battlefield and guide your blade with centuries of honed skill and steadfast devotion.
Within your body resides the collective will of these warriors. You hear their voices, feel their passions, and channel their techniques as if they were your own. You are able to summon the spiritual outlines of each Scabbard — mighty companions who can defend allies, cloak your movements, and redirect attacks. By shifting which Scabbard’s essence you evoke, you adapt to any battle’s demands.
Your connection to these echoes does more than expand your martial repertoire: it entwines your destiny with the historical triumphs and tragedies of Wano’s most dedicated retainers. As you grow stronger, you deepen this bond, learning to channel multiple echoes at once and even sacrificing one spirit to shield another.
Be aware, however, that as the host for these spirits, your very body and soul serve as their anchor in the living realm. In calm moments, you might find yourself in silent conversation with them, gleaning wisdom—or playful banter—from bygone ages. You are no longer a mere warrior; you are a walking reliquary of legendary devotion. In your hands rests the power and honor of the Red Scabbards, and through your blade shines the will of Wano reborn.
Level 3: Manifest Scabbard
Starting at 3rd level, you can manifest the spirit of one of the nine Red Scabbards (excluding Kanjurō) as a bonus action. When you do so, choose which Scabbard spirit you call upon; the spirit appears as a semi-tangible, samurai-like figure in an unoccupied space you can see within 30 feet of you. You connect with your first 3 Scabbards at level three. Then unlock two more spirits at levels 7, 10, and 15.
The summoned Scabbard follows these rules:
-
Duration and Distance: The Scabbard lasts until it’s destroyed, until you dismiss it (no action required), until you manifest another Scabbard, or until you’re incapacitated. It disappears immediately if it’s ever more than 50 feet away from you at the end of your turn.
-
Statistics:
-
The Scabbard has AC equal to 13 + your proficiency bonus, and 1 hit point.
-
It is immune to all conditions (such as being grappled or charmed).
-
If it must make a saving throw, it uses your saving throw bonuses.
-
-
Movement: On your turn, you can mentally command the Scabbard to move up to 30 feet to an unoccupied space you can see, without requiring an action.
-
Attacks from the Spirit: Whenever you take the Attack action on your turn, you can make each of those attacks from your own space or from the Scabbard’s space (choose for each attack). You must still see or otherwise be able to target an enemy normally.
-
Destruction: The Scabbard vanishes if it is reduced to 0 hit points, if you choose to dismiss it, if you manifest another Scabbard, or if it exceeds its maximum distance as described above.
In addition to these shared characteristics, each Scabbard spirit grants you a special benefit while it remains on the field—see “Scabbard Benefits” below. You can only have one Scabbard active at a time. Manifesting a new Scabbard immediately dismisses any other that’s currently active.
Cunning Blade Denjiro
A master schemer with a clever tongue, Denjiro once concealed his true identity beneath a smiling mask to protect his allies. He remains ever-watchful and perceptive, offering strategic counsel and subtle wit to anyone he deems worthy of his loyalty.

Duke Inuarashi
A dignified dog-mink who combines regal bearing with tireless devotion, Inuarashi fought countless battles to defend those he considered family. Ever vigilant, he shares quiet wisdom with those who earn his respect and stands guard over allies even beyond death.
- Vigilant Strike: Opportunity attacks made from Inuarashi’s space have advantage. On hit the target's movement speed is reduced to 0.
- Protective Fang (Reaction): If a hostile creature within 5 feet of the spirit attacks someone other than you or the spirit, you can use your reaction to make a melee weapon attack against that creature from the Scabbard’s position.
Foxfire Kin'emon
A resourceful samurai known for both his fiery spirit and a fatherly sense of responsibility, Kin’emon served as a guiding leader among the Scabbards. Even in ghostly form, he lends boisterous encouragement and humble wisdom to bolster your morale.
- Foxfire Bladework: Once per turn when you hit with a melee attack from Kin’emon’s space, you deal an extra 1d6 fire damage. This damage increases to 1d8 at 10th level, 1d10 at 15th level, and 1d12 at 18th level.

- Kappa Strength: Whenever you land a melee attack add your Strength + Proficiency Bonus to the damage roll total.
Kikunojo of the Lingering Snow
An elegant and compassionate swordswoman, Kiku is well-known for her refined manners and serene presence. She offers kind words and gentle guidance off the battlefield, demonstrating a quiet strength that comforts those around her.

Master Nekomamushi
A boisterous cat-mink known for his irrepressible energy and fearsome prowess in battle, Nekomamushi greets adversity with roaring confidence. Off the field, he is surprisingly amiable — bonding over hearty meals, jokes, and the joy of living life to its fullest.

A poised gunman and sibling to Kiku, Izou once refined his sharpshooting skills amid pirate battles far beyond Wano’s borders. In quieter moments, he speaks with cultured grace, sharing stories of distant seas and the bonds of family that carried him through every trial.
- Ranged Support: Once per turn, when you make a ranged weapon attack, you can choose to have it originate from Izou’s spirit’s space instead of your own (as long as you can see the target). If the attack hits, you deal extra damage equal to your Constitution modifier (minimum +1) + your Dexterity Modifier. On hit it additionally reduces the targets speed to 0.

Level 3: Retainer's Strike
At 3rd level, you also gain the ability to heighten your Scabbard’s attacks. Whenever you take the Attack action, you can make one additional attack from your Scabbard’s position. You can use this feature a number of times equal to your Constitution modifier (minimum of once), and you regain all expended uses when you finish a short rest.
Level 7: Spirit Projection
As an action, you can temporarily transfer your consciousness into your manifested Scabbard spirit. For up to 10 minutes, you see through the Scabbard’s eyes and hear through its ears, gaining any special senses it has (typically none beyond your own). You can end this effect at any time (no action required), and it ends early if you summon a new Scabbard or you are incapacitated. While the spirit is being used in this way, it can be up to 2,000 feet away from you without being destroyed.
Level 10: Martyrs of Oden
Oden’s legacy lives on in the devotion of his retainers, and now your manifested Scabbards echo the greatest sacrifice of their lord. When a creature within 10 feet of your Scabbard is targeted by an attack, you can use your reaction to teleport the spirit to an unoccupied space within 5 feet of that ally, redirecting the attack to the Scabbard instead. In that instant, the Scabbard stands as Oden once did—shouldering danger meant for another. Once you use this feature, you can’t do so again until you finish a short or long rest.
Level 15: Will of the Akazaya
When one of your manifested Scabbards is destroyed, you can harness the lingering resolve passed down by the legendary Red Scabbards. If you have no temporary hit points remaining, you gain temporary hit points equal to 2d6 + your Constitution modifier, as though the mighty spirit of Wano’s heroes fortifies you in your moment of need. You can use this feature a number of times equal to your Constitution modifier (minimum of once), and you regain all expended uses when you finish a long rest.
Level 18: Gathering of the Nine Shadows
At 18th level, you can call upon the combined might of the Red Scabbards in a single moment of glorious unity. As a bonus action, you can summon three different Scabbard spirits at once, each granting its own benefit. Whenever you take the Attack action on your turn, you can make an additional melee attack from each spirit’s position. If you attempt to summon a fourth Scabbard, the previous two immediately vanish.
At 20th level, you can summon all of the Akazaya 9 at once. You can choose to manifest of your echoes in their full physical forms including their spirit bonuses. When summoned in this way your spirits have hit points equal to half of your maximum hit points + double your proficiency bonus. When reduced to 0 hit points the spirits are sundered from this world and are no longer accessible via spirit link; additionally your main body takes two points of exhaustion -- one of which that persists through long rests and can only be removed by a greater restoration spell from the Ope Ope no Mi fruit.
