Fighter
Base Class: Fighter

These valorous Fighters are the finests of guards, often hired by rich and nobles alike who fear for attacks on their person by more than merely assasins. Through many years of training and dedication they are able to use many weapons, but their true might is displayed by their mastery of the shield. Capable of using their shield both offensively and defencively, you might rather face them wielding a greatsword than their shield.

Shield of Valor

From 3rd level you can visit a blacksmith to have your shield reforged into a Shield of Valor. It is a beautifully decorated gold clad shield and the outer edges have been sharpened. It's weight is perfectly balanced, allowing you to wield it with great precision. The Shield of Valor is the Valor Guard's signature equipment and can not be wielded by others.

When wielding this shield with a melee weapon no larger than a dagger or on its own you gain +3 (and an additional +1 for every 10th level) instead of +2 AC.

Art of the Valor Guards

At 3rd level you master the martial art that sets Valor Guard's asside. You can use your Shield of Valor offensively as an attack, striking a single enemy with a melee attack for 1d8 piercing damage.

Shield Toss

At 7th level you learn a new attack for your Shield of Valor. You may use it to make a ranged attack by throwing it upto a maximum range of 60ft. You may use your bonus action to have your shield bounce back at you, or to bounce to upto 2 more enemies as long as there is no more than 5 ft between them. If you choose to use your bonus action to attack multiple targets or make any other action, your shield will return to you at the end of your next turn. This ability deals 1d6 slashing damage to all targets hit.

Powerfull Strike

Starting at 10th level (and again at levels 15 and 20) all attacks with your Shield of Valor gain a damage increase equal to 1 of their respective die.

Deep Cut

At 10th level you perfect your knowledge of martial arts. Your weapon attacks score a critical hit on a roll of 19-20, or if the attack was made using your Shield of Valor a roll of 18-20.

Skilled Guardian

At 15th level you hone your skills as a guardian. If you haven't chosen the 'Protection' Fighting Style yet, you learn it now. If you already have this fighting style it's ranged is doubled from 5ft to 10ft.

Resonating Defence

At level 18 your reactions reach intence heights. As a reaction on a melee attack made against you, you may raise your shield in front of the incomming strike. If the attack hits it causes your shield to resonate a powerfull blast in a 10ft half circle in front of you, damaging anyone in the area for 2d6 force damage. If the attack was non-magical you do not take damage.
