Barbarian
Base Class: Barbarian

Known as Kuldjargh (literally “axe idiot”) in Dwarvish, battleragers are dwarf followers of the gods of war and take the Path of the Battlerager. They specialize in wearing bulky, spiked armor and throwing themselves into combat, striking with their body itself and giving themselves over to the fury of battle.

Restriction: Dwarves Only

Only dwarves can follow the Path of the Battlerager. The battlerager fills a particular niche in dwarven society and culture.

Your DM can lift this restriction to better suit the campaign. The restriction exists for the Forgotten Realms. It might not apply to your DM’s setting or your DM’s version of the Realms.

Battlerager Armor

When you choose this path at 3rd level, you gain the ability to use spiked armor (see the “Spiked Armor” sidebar) as a weapon.

SPIKED ARMOR

Spiked armor is a rare type of medium armor made by dwarves. It consists of a leather coat and leggings covered with spikes that are usually made of metal.
Cost: 75 gp
AC: 13 + Dexterity modifier (max 2)
Weight: 45 lb.
Strength Requirement: 11
Special: When you try to grapple a creature, the target takes 1d4 piercing damage if your grapple check succeeds.

While you are wearing spiked armor and are raging, you can use a bonus action to make one Spike Bash; a melee weapon attack with your armor spikes against a target within 5 feet of you. If the attack hits, the spikes deal 1d4 piercing damage. You use your Strength modifier for the attack and damage rolls.

Additionally you can add your rage damage bonus to the grapple damage of spiked armor.

Spiked Retribution

Beginning at 6th level, while raging while wearing spiked armor you gain a bonus to your AC equal to your constitution modifier.

Additionally when a creature within 5 feet of you misses you with a melee attack, you can use your reaction to make a Retributive Spike Bash attack.

Spiked Retribution (Not Raging)

No AC bonus while not raging

Spiked Retribution (Raging)

Battlerager Charging Spike Bash

Beginning at 10th level, once per turn, if you move at least 10ft towards a target before hitting it with a spike bash you deal an additional 2d4 piercing damage and you can choose to push the target up to 10ft away from you. Immediately after the attack you can move up to 10ft without expending movement.

Reckless Abandon

Starting at 14th level, when you make a Reckless attack while wearing spiked armor you deal an additional 1d4 Piercing damage on the attack.

Additionally while under the effect of reckless, you can use Retributive Strike Bash irrespective of whether target hits or misses its attack, but if the target still misses its attack, your Retributive Strike Bash gains the benefits of reckless.
