Base Class: Warlock
(Looking for feedback for this subclass. This is version 1.1 Does anyone know how to link spells into the subclass without getting this error? This homebrew Subclass has data mapped to it that is licensed content or private homebrew. This typically occurs when licensed or private homebrew spells are linked to the Subclass.)
Your patron is not a god, but what remains when a god is forgotten.
The Quiet Sovereign is no longer worshiped, no longer known by name, no longer even alive in the divine sense. It is a husk of cosmic thought—a god-thought unanchored from divinity, drifting in the dark between reality’s folds. When you forge a pact with the Quiet Sovereign, you do not speak with it. It does not answer. It simply remembers you into being.
Level 3: Forgotten Blessing
You’ve inherited a fragment of ancient protection, a warping of fate woven by forgotten minds.
- As an Action, you can cast the Blade Ward spell on one willing creature you can see within 30 feet. This version of Blade Ward does not require concentration.
- Once you use this feature, you must finish a short or long rest before you can use it again.
In addition, you gain proficiency in the Arcana skill.
Level 3: Quiet Sovereign Spells
The magic of your patron ensures you always have certain spells ready; when you reach a Warlock level specified in the Quiet Sovereign Spells table, you thereafter always have the listed spells prepared. (I can't put Intellect Fortress or Borrowed Knowledge and publish this)
3rd level: False Life, Dissonant Whispers, Silence, Borrowed Knowledge
5th level: Intellect Fortress, Speak with Dead
7th level: Evard's Black Tentacles, Phantasmal Killer
9th level: Modify Memory, Synaptic Static
Level 3: Sovereign's Carcass
“Its bones shield me still. Its thoughts are armor. Even in death, it watches.”
As a bonus action, you invoke the will of your patron, shattered bone fragments and psychic residue drift around your form, clinging like armor, humming with distant memory and divine decay.
- Armor of Agathys is added to your spell list, and you can cast it using your highest-level pact magic slot without expending a spell slot. The damage is psychic instead of cold. Additionally, the spell duration is changed to end of long rest.
- You can use this feature once. You regain one of its expended uses when you finish a Short Rest, and you regain all expended uses when you finish a Long Rest. You gain an additional use of this ability at 10th level.
Level 6: Mnemonic Collapse
6th Level: Mnemonic Collapse
Your spells dislocate memory and unravel certainty.
As a bonus action, when you deal damage to a creature, you can force it to relive a disturbing memory. You witness the memory through a haze of static and warped sensation. Additionally, if you have Sovereign’s Carcass active, the extra psychic damage you deal restores your temporary hit points equal to the damage dealt, but not above the spell's maximum.
Roll a d4, the target suffers the effect associated with the number rolled:
1 – Convulsing Geometry.
The target takes an additional 1d8 psychic damage, and has disadvantage on the next d20 test it makes before the end of its next turn.
“Space inward, outward, and beneath existence.”
2 – Cognition Bleed.
At the start of its next turn, the target takes 1d8 psychic damage and can only move if they use their action
“The mind drips backward.”
3 – Dread Hollow Star.
The target takes an additional 2d8 psychic damage. If the target is concentrating, the DC to maintain concentration becomes the higher of your Warlock spell save DC or half the total damage taken (rounded up).
“You glimpse it—the soundless place where gods die.”
4 – Cerebral Brainfire.
The target takes 1d8 psychic damage and has the blind condition until the end of its next turn. (while blinded, the target can’t see living creatures but can see its surroundings)
“Thoughts bloom into static.”
You can use this feature a number of times equal to your proficiency bonus, and you regain all expended uses when you finish a long rest.
At 10th level, the damage from each effect increases by 1d8.
Level 10: Threshold of Thought
10th Level: Threshold of Thought
Your mind is no longer merely a vessel of power—it is an instrument of unraveling. The Quiet Sovereign whispers forgotten truths through your veins, enhancing both your spellcraft and your understanding of the impossible.
- The damage of Mnemonic Collapse increases by 1d8.
- You gain expertise in Arcana
Level 10: Ossuary Halo
10th Level: Ossuary Halo
A halo of floating vertebrae hovers above your head. Spectral ribs spiral behind your shoulders, rotating with eerie calm. A skull fractures in reverse above your head, whispering what your foes are thinking.
Level 14: Cosmic Convergence
14th Level: Cosmic Convergence
“The god is dead—but its bones still dream.”
You tear open the veil between the material and the forgotten plane where the Quiet Sovereign drifts, summoning a grotesque fragment of its celestial remains into the sky above you.
As an action, you manifest a 30-foot radius centered on you. For 1 minute, while you and your allies are inside the area, you gain resistance to Psychic and Necrotic damage and are immune to the blinded and deafened condition as space is engulfed in a silent, colorless storm made of stardust, nulllight, and cosmic divinity.
At the end of each of your turns, you can rain down energy from the sovereign. This energy manifests as cosmic starlight or Bonefire Bloom
Bonefire Bloom: Creatures you choose inside the area are barraged with a hail of bone fragments mixed with psychic resonance. Each creature you choose must make a Dexterity saving throw against your Warlock Spell save DC. On a failure, they take 2d6 Bludgeoning damage and 2d6 Psychic damage, and their movement speed is reduced by 10 feet. On a success, they take half damage.
Cosmic Starlight: Creatures you choose inside the area are connected to the mind of the sovereign. Each creature you choose gains temporary hit points equal to 1d6+ your charisma modifier. While they have these temporary hit points, they have advantage on all saving throws.
Once you use this feature, you can’t use it again until you finish a Long Rest unless you expend a Pact Magic spell slot (no action required) to restore your use of it.
