Base Class: Monk
Monks who follow the path of the Dark Void Defenders are bound to a faith that has evolved through corruption, tethering them to shadows and dark magic. Their connection to Innana, the sealed Dark Goddess, grants them unsettling abilities, but maintaining this bond comes with a price: constant proximity to darkness.
Touch of Shadows
- Shadowstep: You can teleport up to 30 feet into an area of dim light or darkness as a bonus action twice per long rest.
- Void Strike: When attacking with unarmed strikes, you may infuse your fists with shadows, gaining an extra 1d4 necrotic damage in areas of dim light or darkness.
Black Tar Propagation
- Tar Bond: Unarmed strikes in regions of Black Tar can extend damage to one additional creature within 10 feet of the original target. (Targets must also be in contact with Black Tar.)
- Shadow Generation: As an action, create a 20-foot radius of magical darkness centered on you that lasts for 1 minute. You can use this ability a number of times equal to your Constitution modifier per long rest.
Ritual of the Goddess
- Corrupted Resilience: Gain resistance to necrotic damage and advantage on saving throws against being frightened.
- Darkness Severance: At the cost of 2 ki points, you temporarily sever the enemy's connection to shadows. All hostile(decided by users intent) creatures within 30 feet loses any benefits granted by darkness (e.g., invisibility, shadow-based attacks) for one round.
The Embrace of Innana
- Void Ascendance: Gain immunity to necrotic damage and the ability to walk along walls and ceilings in areas of dim light or darkness without needing a saving throw.
- Dark Veil: Your Shadow Generation ability can now include a disorienting aura. Creatures within the darkness must make a Wisdom saving throw (DC 8 + proficiency + Wisdom modifier) or suffer disadvantage on attacks for the duration.
Separation from Darkness Condition
Failure to do so results in:
- Physical Weakening: Reduced movement speed by 10 feet and disadvantage on Constitution saving throws until the ritual is completed.
- Dimmed Power: Shadow-based abilities cannot be used until you reconnect with your source of darkness.
Consuming and Consumed
The character must choose to drink a vial of pure Black Tar at levels 3, 6, 11, and 17 in order to gain their new abilities.
These and any untrained consumption of Black Tar requires the character to make (be made for him in private at DM discretion) a Wisdom Save (DC 10 + number of Wisdom score loses to Black Tar consumption). Failure results in a permanent -1 to Wisdom(cannot be removed except by Wish or divine intervention). This -1 can be kept in secret by DM at their discretion, & does not count towards ability bonus limits.
