Ranger
Base Class: Ranger

Legends tell of warriors cast in ice that dwell in the northern wastes. An order of knights that have become attuned to the frozen wind itself, beckoning it to their own wills. These are Frozen Wardens, warriors who have been gifted the blizzard's greatest protection, itself. Some Wardens come from ancient orders charged with defending sacred land. Others have been rewarded by nature itself by performing great deeds in its defense. Others striking a pact with a being of elemental power. Some have even traveled to every corner of the northern world and below, uncovering the secrets of nature's boons. Regardless of how they come to be, their purpose is to protect.

Frozen Magic

Starting at 3rd level, you learn an additional spell when you reach certain levels in this class, as shown in the Frozen Warden Spells table. The spell counts as a ranger spell for you, but it doesn’t count against the number of ranger spells you know.

Avalanche

At 3rd level, you learn to move like the surge of an avalanche putting its weight of to your advantage, momentum empowering your first strikes. You give yourself a bonus to your initiative rolls equal to your Wisdom modifier.

At the start of your first turn of each combat, your walking speed increases by 10 feet, which lasts until the end of that turn. If you take the Attack action on that turn,  you can choose to take a penalty equal to your Wisdom modifier to the attack roll. If the attack still hits, you add double the penalty to the attack's damage.

Blizzard Armor

At the 3rd level, as an action, you can invoke the protection of the northern storms and don a special type of armor called Blizzard Armor. This armor comes up from the ground and clads you in the environment around you. The armor lasts for 10 minutes, until you lose all of the temporary hit points you gained from it, or until you dismiss it as a bonus action. While you are wearing the Blizzard Armor, you gain the following benefits:

  • You gain a number of temporary hit points equal to 2 times your Ranger level, plus your Wisdom modifier and your proficiency bonus; (2*RLVL)+WIS+PB
  • You may add your proficiency bonus to your Armor Class

You can don your Gaia Armor a number of times equal to your proficiency bonus per long rest.

Glacial Cleave

You learn to strike forth with the weight of a glacier. At the 7th level, when you make a melee weapon attack, you may instead use he following ability:

Glacial Cleave

  • You swing your weapon in an arc towards the air in front of you, sending a wave of frost in a 15-foot cone. Any creature within this range must make a dexterity saving throw against your spell save DC, being knocked prone, taking 2d8 cold damage and being knocked prone upon failure, and half as much damage upon succeeding. This attack is still considered a melee weapon attack against any creature in the cone within your normal weapon range, taking half of this weapon's normal damage on a hit.

You have a number of uses of this ability equal to your Charisma modifier, regained after a long rest.

Freezing Bonds

At 11th level, you attack with the fury of the frost, binding enemies in place with your strikes. Whenever you make a single target attack with a weapon or spell dealing cold damage, you deal an additional damage die of the type used in the attack, and the creature must make a Constitution saving throw against your Ranger Spell Save DC or become restrained. The creature is restrained until the beginning of their turn when they succeed in this saving throw.

Absolute Zero

Starting at 15th level, you are able to conquer the unwavering strength of a Blizzard. When an attack would bring you to zero hit points for the first time after a long rest you instead regain hit points equal to the temporary hit points of your Blizzard Armor. Additionally, when this occurs you automatically don your blizzard Armor if there is at least a charge left to use.
