Monks of the Way of the Joy-Boy are physical embodiments of freedom, joy, and resilience. Drawing inspiration from an ancient legend of a mythical liberator, these monks develop strange, rubbery bodies and wield joy itself as a weapon. With laughter in their hearts and elasticity in their bones, they defy logic, bounce back from defeat, and never stop smiling.

Joyful Body

Your body becomes rubbery and nearly impervious to blunt force.

• Gum-Gum Pistol: Your unarmed strikes gain a +15 ft. reach.

• Gum-Gum Balloon: You gain resistance to bludgeoning damage.

• Gum-Gum Gatling: You gain a bonus to your jump distance equal to your Wisdom modifier × 5 feet, and you don’t take fall damage if you can act (i.e., you’re not unconscious or incapacitated).

Infectious Laughter

You radiate a contagious joy that bolsters allies and confuses enemies.

• Joyful Aura: As a bonus action, you can spend 1 focus point to activate a radiant, infectious energy. For 1 minute:

  • You and allies within 10 feet have advantage on saving throws against being frightened or charmed.

  • Enemies in the aura must make a Charisma saving throw at the start of their turn or have disadvantage on attack rolls against targets other than you until the start of their next turn.

• Rubber Escape: You gain advantage on checks to escape grapples or restraints, and may spend 1 focus as a reaction to automatically slip free of a grapple.

Boundless Momentum

Your elastic potential becomes near unstoppable.

• Bouncing Assault: When you use your Step of the Wind, you can make an unarmed strike as part of the bonus action jump or Dash.

• Ricochet Strike: Once per turn, when you hit with an unarmed strike, you can immediately make another attack against a creature within 10 feet of the first target, as if you rebounded off them.

• Lightning Speed: You gain +10 feet to your movement speed, and difficult terrain no longer slows you.

Awakened Joy

You unlock the true form of your spirit — a radiant, reality-defying state of joyful liberation.

• Awakened Form (Bonus Action, 5 ki points): For 1 minute, you gain the following benefits:

  • Stretchy Form: Your reach increases by another 5 feet (total of +20 ft.).

  • Freedom Embodied: You are immune to the grappled, restrained, paralyzed, and stunned conditions.

  • Cartoon Physics: When you are reduced to 0 HP, you can instead bounce back to 1 HP. You can do this once per transformation.

  • Inspiring Presence: Allies within 30 feet gain advantage on death saving throws, and they regain 1 ki point, spell slot (1st level), or use of Bardic Inspiration (DM’s discretion) when they start their turn in the aura once per transformation.

You can use Awakened Form once per long rest, or again by spending 7 ki points.
