Wizard
Base Class: Wizard

Wizards of this order are artists in the truest sense, their canvases ripple with magic, and their brushstrokes bend the laws of reality. To them, painting is not just expression—it is invocation. They wield pigment as others wield fire and lightning, crafting images so vivid they blur the line between art and life.

Students of this tradition specialize in different schools of visual style — realism to grants life to their the art, impressionism conjuring emotion into reality, hyperrealism to manifest, an abstract craft to rewrite the very essence of truth. Their spellbooks are sketchpads, their somatic components dance across canvas, air, or water, and in battle, they conjure powerful effects with a flick of color.

To see one of these wizards at work is to witness magic take form in a wash of colors, textures, and impossible beauty.

Skilled Artist

3rd-level Order of Artists feature

You gain proficiency in the Performance skill and with Painter’s Supplies.

Realism

3rd-level Order of Artists feature

Once per long rest, as an action, you can make a Painter’s Supplies check to produce a sketch/drawing/painting of a creature you have seen (work with your DM to decide what creatures you could choose), with a CR equal to your wizard level divided by 4, this becomes equal to the level of your highest spell slot when you reach 14 levels in this class.

As part of this action you can cause the artwork to come to life. The Living Artwork has the statistics provided in the Monster Manual for the chosen form, though it is a construct instead of its normal creature type. The Living Artwork acts independently of you, but it obeys your commands.

Combat. The Living Artwork is an ally to you and your allies. It rolls its own Initiative and acts on its own turn, however it cannot attack or cast spells, but it can take other actions as normal.

Lasting Image. The Living Artwork remains with you for a number of hours equal to the Painter’s Supplies check you made or until it drops to 0 Hit Points. As a Magic action, you can temporarily return the image to the page it was drawn on. As a Magic action while it is on the page, you can cause it to return in an unoccupied space within 30 feet of you.

Artistic Licence You can only have one Living Artwork at a time, if you create another Living Artwork while one already exists, the first one will cease to exist.

Abstract

6th-level Order of Artists feature

You add the Mirror Image spell to your spell book if it is not there already. You can cast Mirror Image, as a reaction to being attacked, once without expending a spell slot.
When cast using this feature your Mirror Images will affect creatures with Blindsight or Truesight.
Once you have cast it in this way, you cannot do so again until you take a Long Rest.

Impressonism

10th-level Order of Artists feature

You may spend one minute, up to one hour, to create an artistic rendering of an object and bring its form into reality. The object lasts a number of days equal to your proficiency bonus.

  • This object can occupy a space up to 15 feet in all dimensions.
  • The object is a perfect recreation of the original but it has no magical properties.
  • When the artwork is complete, you make a check with your Painter’s Supplies, adding a +1 bonus for every 10 minutes spent on the artwork. The object can only be determined to be a reproduction with True Sight, or an Investigation check against the Painter’s Supplies check.

Hyper Realism

14th-level Order of Artists feature

At 14th level, when you take your action to create a Living Artwork, you may expend a spell slot equal to the CR of the creature, allowing the image to embody the creature in its entirety. This removes the restrictions on attacks and spell casting.
