Barbarian
Base Class: Barbarian

Most barbarians forgo all things magic in lieu of unadulterated rage. The Path of the Hellion instead lets the internal fire fuel the external fire. The Hellion walks the path paved with the beaten and charred husks of their enemies. Whether the ax or the spell is chosen, it will be spectacular.

Level 3: Spellcasting

You have learned to cast spells. The information below details how you use those rules as a Hellion.

Cantrips. You know two cantrips of your choice from the Sorcerer spell list (see that class’s section for its list). Whenever you gain a Barbarian level, you can replace one of these cantrips with another cantrip of your choice from the Sorcerer spell list.

When you reach Barbarian level 10, you learn another Sorcerer cantrip of your choice.

Spell Slots. The Hellion Spellcasting table shows how many spell slots you have to cast your level 1+ spells. You regain all expended slots when you finish a Long Rest.

Prepared Spells of Level 1+. You prepare the list of level 1+ spells that are available for you to cast with this feature. To start, choose three level 1 spells from the Prepared Spells of Level 1+. You prepare the list of level 1+ spells that are available for you to cast with this feature. To start, choose three level 1 spells from the Sorcerer spell list.

The number of spells on your list increases as you gain Barbarian levels, as shown in the Prepared Spells column of the Hellion Spellcasting table. Whenever that number increases, choose additional spells from the Sorcerer spell list until the number of spells on your list matches the number on the table. The chosen spells must be of a level for which you have spell slots. For example, if you’re a level 7 Barbarian, your list of prepared spells can include five Sorcerer spells of levels 1 and 2 in any combination.

Changing Your Prepared Spells. Whenever you gain a Barbarian level, you can replace one spell on your list with another Sorcerer spell for which you have spell slots.

Spellcasting Ability. Constitution is your spellcasting ability for your Sorcerer spells.

Spellcasting Focus. You can use an Arcane Focus as a Spellcasting Focus for your Sorcerer spells.

Level 3: Blazing Blood

Starting when you choose this path at 3rd level, your rage ignites something within you. You gain the following benefits while your rage is active:

  • You can cast spells and maintain concentration.
  • Casting a leveled spell on your turn will prolong your rage.
  • Reckless Attack can now be applied to magic attack rolls.
  • Any spell of the evocation school may add Rage Damage to any damage dealt and any spell of the abjuration school may add temporary hit points equal to the character’s rage damage to the target of the spell or you.

Level 6: Enhanced Extra Attack

Starting at 6th level, when you use the attack action, you can cast one of your cantrips in place of one of those attacks.

Level 10: Belial Bursts

At 10th level, your spells are further infused with a fiery brutality. You may now apply any Brutal Strike benefits to spell attacks you make.

Level 14: Brawn of Beelzebub

Starting at 14th level, the hellish well grows deeper still. While your rage is active, you can add your Strength modifier (minimum of +1) to your spell damage rolls and gain flight equal to your movement speed.
