Base Class: Barbarian
Barbarians are known for their raw strength, their unrelenting rage, and their refusal to be shackled by arcane knowledge. But some forge an unnatural bond with magic—not by discipline, but by sheer force of will. These warriors tap into the chaotic surge of primal power, harnessing spells at great personal cost. The more they wield magic, the greater the strain on their bodies and minds, pushing them to the brink of collapse.
Level 3: Spell-Fueled Rage
Your rage now sustains your magic, allowing you to cast spells even in the throes of battle—but at a cost. While raging, you can cast spells from the Ranger spell list. However:
Using 6 spell points within a single rage charge grants 1 level of exhaustion instantly as the spell is casted.
You gain 6 spell points.
Each spell you cast beyond 6 total spell points forces a concentration check: Roll a Dexterity saving throw (DC 8 + total spell points used after the 5th point) to avoid a point of exhaustion.
Cantrips count as half a spell point.
Spells cost equal to their level in spell points up to sixth level.
Your Spellcasting ability is your Dexterity.
You regain all spell points after a long rest.
Spell Preparation Mechanics:
You can prepare spells equal to (Proficiency bonus + Dex Mod).
Every 5 days in-game, you may swap your prepared spells.
You do not require spellcasting components if the spell has verbal or somatic requirements only—your rage itself acts as the conduit.
Level 6: Primal Expansion
Your spellcasting deepens, integrating raw natural energy into your chaotic power. Your spell points increase to 12, and you may now prepare 2 Druidic spells of your choice in addition to your Ranger spells.
Level 10: Arcane Resilience
Your body hardens against the magical forces threatening to burn you out. Your spell points increase to 18, and you gain 2 additional Druidic spells to prepare. Additionally, exhaustion levels caused by spellcasting can be removed after a long rest rather than requiring special restoration.
Level 14: Boundless Rage
The flow of magic in your blood reaches its peak, allowing you to bend the primal energies around you. Your spell points increase to 24, and you gain 2 more Druidic spells to prepare. Additionally, once per long rest, you can enter a Boundless Rage—for the next minute, spellcasting does not contribute to exhaustion.
