Base Class: Monk
Monks of the Way of the These Hands are temperamental masters of a martial style that, while not necessarily suited to starting fights, is always prepared to end them. They learn techniques to control the area around them and their allies and deescalate confrontations by rendering foes unconscious.
Catch Technique
Starting when you choose this tradition at 3rd level, anyone that ****s with you or yours will regret it.
Whenever an opponent in range makes an attack against you or an adjacent ally you may spend 2 ki points to make a melee attack against them as a reaction. If you hit they must succeed on a concentration check or automatically fail in their attack. The DC for the concentration check is 8 + your proficiency bonus + your Wisdom modifier.
E for Everybody
Whenever you successfully hit with a melee attack you may spend a ki point to move up to 5 feet and make an additional melee attack against another opponent. For each time you use this beyond the first in a turn, gain a level of exhaustion at the end of combat.
They ain't want no smoke
Beginning at 11th level, you can enter a special meditation that surrounds you with an aura of power. The aura extends 30 feet from you in every direction, but not through total cover. Whenever a creature enters the aura or starts their turn in it they must make a wisdom saving throw with a DC of 8 + your Wisdom modifier + your proficiency bonus. On a failed save, a creature becomes frightened of you for 1 minute. The frightened creature can repeat this saving throw at the end of each of its turns, ending the effect on itself on a success. On a successful save they are no longer effected by this power.
In addition whenever a creature because frightened by your aura you may spend 3 ki points and your reaction to cast command as a spell-like ability on that creature.
Handing out life lessons
At 17th level, you gain the ability to restore your ki as you defeat foes in combat. Whenever you reduce an opponent to 0 hp you regain ki points equal to your wisdom modifier (minimum 1).
