Base Class: Barbarian
A battlerager barbarian is a specific and intricate fighting style devised by dwarves that allows the wearers of the spike armor to tear and maim all who try to wound them. With these teachings being a strict secret to most of dwarf society, the only way that a battlerager of non-dwarf decent knows the ways of this special fighting style either obtained it from a trusting dwarf, or invented a pretty close version of the fighting style themselves. As a battlerager, you will be finding yourself consistently dealing damage to close range targets, getting into the heat of battle quickly and effectively as a good barbarian should.
[3] Specialized Fighting
As a Battlerager you are masterful at extreme close range fighting. You gain rage benefits while in heavy armor. While raging within your armor, any creature to make a melee weapon attack upon you within 5ft, or an attack that relates to physical contact like a bite or claw swipe from any distance regardless if they hit or miss takes (1d8+Str). Additionally, creatures within 5ft of you cannot gain advantage on melee attacks unless you are knocked unconscious, stop raging, or are under a conditional affect. You can instantly deal (1d10+Str) Piercing damage as a free action to creatures you grapple while in your armor, and subsequently to enemies grappling you while in your armor.
[3] Spike Armor
The Battlerager is a fighting style devout to close range combat. You are given spike armor, built upon your choice of either chainmail or scalemail. The spike armor modifications can be converted to any set of armor as long as you have 100 gold pieces of resources and spend 6 hours crafting the new set. Spike armor counts as a weapon while being worn, and can deal magical piercing damage with all subclass damage related abilities if put onto a magical set of armor. No creature besides you can wear this armor to gain the benefits of the subclass unless they themselves happen to be a battlerager.
[6] Warriors Charge
You are a charging tank on the battlefield. You can now dash as a bonus action. While raging, you can move in a creatures space counting them as difficult terrain as long as they are the same size or a maximum of one size larger than you. If you start your next turn inside another creature, you are pushed to the closest space available. Creatures that you pass through must make a dexterity saving throw equal to (8+Strength Mod+Proficiency Bonus) or take (1d10+Str) piercing damage, or no damage on a successful save. You can only do this attack to the same creature once per round. (For clarity, you can run through multiple creatures per round)
[10] Defensive Offense
Your armor gains a bonus of +1 AC that can go over 20. While raging, every time a creature is damaged by your spike armor, you gain half the number rolled back as temporary hit points to a maximum of 50. These temporary hit points do not have rage damage resistances and go away if you end your rage or combat ends. Additionally, whenever you hit a creature with a melee attack while raging, they automatically take (1d6+Str) piercing damage from your armor.
[14] Mighty Form
While you are raging in your armor, enemies that enter a radius of 30ft around you must make a wisdom saving throw of (8+Strength mod+ Proficiency bonus) or be frightened. On success, they become immune to this effect for 24 hours. Affected creatures can repeat this save at end of their next turn. This effect immediately fails if the creature is immune to being frightened. Also while raging in your armor, you are no longer effected by movement penalties or difficult terrain, and can half damage taken from any source as a free action once per turn. Whenever you deal damage with your armor, you deal an additional amount of force damage equal to your proficiency bonus.

Posted May 22, 2025This is the grammatically fixed/slightly updated version of my battlerager subclass. I can't say it's perfect, but it's better than it was IMO :3
