Monk
Base Class: Monk

"To move like a drunk is to fight like water in a broken jug - Unpredictable, unstoppable, and impossible to follow"

Most monks strive for discipline, balance, and inner stillness. But you? You fight like a tipped jug of rice wine — chaotic, unstable, and somehow always upright. Monks who follow the Way of the Drunken Stance embody the sacred philosophy of motion without pattern, balance within instability, and flow over form.

To outsiders, your fighting style looks like pure madness: stumbling footwork, rolling limbs, and slurred laughter mid-combat. But those who study your rhythm learn that your chaos is a weapon — a deeply practiced art that turns inebriation into inspiration.

These monks don't simply imitate the drunken master; they become one with the flow, invoking stances that channel wind, stone, fire, and fog through their chi-fueled bodies. Their unpredictability isn’t a flaw — it’s the essence of their power.

Level 3: Flowing Flask

Level 3

You gain immunity to the poisoned condition (Drunk) and have advantage on saving throws against being stunned, paralyzed, and any Constitution saving throws while in any Drunken Stance.

Level 3: Drunken Stances

📿 Level 3 — Stances of the Flowing Flask

You’ve mastered three mystical Drunken Stances, each representing a different flow of chi through your body. You can enter a stance as a bonus action, and may switch stances once per turn as a free action.

You can use Drunken Stances a number of times equal to your Proficiency Bonus per long rest. You regain all uses when you finish a long rest.

Level 3: Swaying Stance

🍃 Swaying Stance (Evasive & Elusive)

  • +10 ft to your movement.

  • When a creature misses you with a melee attack, you can move 5 ft without provoking opportunity attacks.

  • Once per turn, you can impose disadvantage on an attack against you as a reaction.

Level 3: Crashing Stance

Level 3

🪨 Crashing Stance (Brutal & Unpredictable)

  • When you hit with an unarmed strike or monk weapon, you may spend 1 ki point to deal extra damage equal to your Martial Arts die + your Wisdom modifier.

  • Once per turn, if you miss with a melee weapon attack, you may immediately attempt a Shove as a bonus action.

  • When you reduce a creature to 0 HP with a melee attack, you can let out a sudden drunken roar. One creature of your choice within 10 feet must succeed on a Wisdom saving throw (DC = 8 + your Proficiency Bonus + Wisdom modifier) or become frightened of you until the end of your next turn.

Level 3: Rolling Stance

Level 3

🌪️ Rolling Stance (Momentum & Mobility)

  • When you use Step of the Wind, you may make one unarmed strike as part of that bonus action.

  • While dashing, you can move through hostile creatures’ spaces (difficult terrain).

  • If you move at least 10 feet straight toward a creature and hit it with an unarmed strike, it must succeed on a Dex saving throw (DC = 8 + your prof + Wis mod) or fall prone.

Level 6: Flowing Transitions

🥋 Level 6

You can now change your Drunken Stance as part of any Attack or Flurry of Blows action, without using your bonus action.

Additionally, when you change stances, you may do one of the following:

  • Gain temporary hit points equal to your Wisdom modifier.

  • Stand up from prone without spending movement.

  • Remove the Grappled or Frightened condition from yourself.

Chi-Drunk Mastery

🧘 Level 11

You are so attuned to the chaotic rhythms of battle and drink that your chi shifts without thought.

  • You may now activate or switch Drunken Stances an unlimited number of times.
  • Flow Like Liquor
When you use Flurry of Blows, you may spend 1 additional ki point to gain one of the following effects for 1 minute (your choice when you activate it):

Flow Like Fire: Your unarmed strikes ignite the air, dealing an additional 1d4 fire damage on hit.
Flow Like Fog: You gain heavily obscured status until the start of your next turn (as if lightly surrounded by vapor; does not obscure your own vision).
Flow Like Stone: Until the start of your next turn, you are immune to being knocked prone or moved against your will, and opportunity attacks against you are made with disadvantage.

You may only have one Flow active at a time, and you may use this feature a number of times equal to your Wisdom modifier per long rest.

Level 17: Master of Staggering Flow

💫 Level 17

Your control over chaotic movement becomes untouchable:

  • Whenever you change stances, you may teleport up to 10 feet to an unoccupied space you can see.

  • Attacks of opportunity against you are made with disadvantage.

  • When you reduce a creature to 0 HP, you may immediately switch stances and make one unarmed strike against another creature within range.
