Base Class: Paladin

Paladins who take the Oath of Bushido aspire to the ways of the Samurai. Honorable warriors who specialize in a versatile array of combat stances, the paladin holds themselves to the highest standards of conduct. These paladins serve those whom they are sworn to protect with unbreakable resolve and an implacable fighting spirit.

Often, warriors whose hearts are tempered by honor and whose blades reflect the clarity of their spirit. They are not merely fighters, but living embodiments of a code, their every action a brushstroke painting a portrait of unwavering devotion. These paladins, masters of diverse martial stances, move with a fluid grace that belies their formidable strength, each form a meditation, each strike a testament to their inner discipline.

A Paladin lives by these tenets:

  • Do what is right, not what is easy.
  • Face adversity without fear.
  • True strength is measured in mercy.
  • Live by your word, and let your actions define you.
  • Devotion is the foundation of strength.

 

Level 3: Oath of Bushido Spells

The magic of your oath ensures you always have certain spells ready; when you reach a Paladin level specified in the Oath of Bushido Spells table, you thereafter always have the listed spells prepared.

Level 3: Stance of the Wind

As a Bonus action, you can expend one use of Channel Divinity to become one with the wind and enter a defensive stance. For 1 minute or until you use this feature again, you add your Charisma modifier to Armor Class(minimum bonus of +1). If an enemy misses you with a melee attack, you can use a reaction to make a melee Weapon Attack against them.

You can end this effect early (no action required) and ends once you make a melee Weapon Attack as a reaction.

Level 3: Stance of the Flame

As a Bonus action, you can expend one use of Channel Divinity to set your heart ablaze and enter an offensive stance. When you perform a Weapon Attack or an Unarmed Strike, you may use your Reaction to perform an additional Weapon Attack or an Unarmed Strike

You can end this effect early (no action required) and ends once you make a Weapon Attack as a reaction.

Level 7: Aura of Honor

You and your allies  gain +1 bonus to Attack Roll and gain Temporary Hit Points equal your Paladin Level while in your Aura of Protection. 

Level 15: Smite of the Dragon

You call upon the power of a Divine Dragon. Whenever you cast Divine Smite or any smite, you can expend one use of Channel Divinity and call upon a divine strike in the shape of dragon, dealing an additional 3d10 damage. You may choose between Fire damage, Lightning damage, or Radiant damage type.

Smite of the Dragon Upgrade: The damage increases by 2d10 when you reach level 20 (5d10).

Level 20: Bushido

As a Bonus Action, you can call upon the spirit of Bushido, granting yourself the following benefits for 10 minute. Once you use this feature, you can’t use it again until you finish a Long Rest. You can also restore your use of this feature by expending a 5th-level spell slot (no action required):

Activate Bushido

While your Aura of Protection is infused with the spirit of a true Samurai, it grants the following benefits:

Unyielding Resolve: At the start of each of your turns, you regain hit points equal to your Paladin level.

Blade Mastery: When you take the Attack action, you can make one additional attack as part of that action (this stacks with Extra Attack.)

Blade Parry: When a creature within your Aura is hit by an attack roll, you can use your Reaction to move next to the creature and reduce the damage by an amount equal to your Paladin level. + proficiency.
