Base Class: Sorcerer
Rift-Infused:
The power of Rift-Infused sorcery is granted through an ancient pact (often made by a distant ancestor) with A’nexodus, the Primordial Riftmaker, an otherworldly entity. In exchange for their service in protecting the realms between worlds, A’nexodus bestowed the gift of space manipulation. Rift-infused sorcerers use these abilities to explore, uncover hidden knowledge, and serve as guardians of the cosmic order. They embark on quests that challenge the boundaries of the known.
Level 3: Portal
You gain the ability to manipulate space by creating a pair of linked portals. As an action, choose two unoccupied spaces within 60 feet of you that you can see, creating a set of two linked portals. The effects of the portals include:
- When looking through a portal you can perceive things as if looking through the linked portal; as though you were standing in it's location.
- When adjacent to a portal, you can calculate your range for spells and attacks as if originating from the linked portal.
- You can perform simple tasks through the portal, such as retrieving or stealing an object from the other side.
- As part of their movement, you and allied creatures within 5 feet of a portal can spend half their movement speed to enter the portal. Upon doing so, they emerge within 5 feet of the linked portal in a space of your choice.
- The portal is only big enough for a medium or smaller-sized creature or object. Portals cannot be used to connect to any other portals for the duration
- When a creature chooses to launch a projectile into the portal, you can use your Reaction to make it emerge on the other side of the portal. Otherwise, the projectile is lost.
The portals last for up to 1 hour. You can close the portals early as a free action if they are unoccupied. Initially, this feature can be used once per Long Rest. You gain an additional use of this ability at 6th and 14th level; being able to use this two and three times per long rest respectively.
Attempting to have more than two portals active at a time causes the previous ones to close instantly.
Level 3: Rift-Infused Spells
When you reach a Sorcerer level specified in the Rift-Infused Spells table, you thereafter always have the listed spells prepared.
| Sorcerer Level | Spells |
|---|---|
| 3 | Protection from Evil and Good, Entangle, Blur, Misty Step |
| 5 | Blink, Nondetection |
| 7 | Dimension Door, Banishment |
| 9 | Planar Binding, Teleportation Circle |
Level 6: Improved Portal
You gain a deeper connection to the fabrics of reality and how to manipulate it.
When creating portals you can now choose two unoccupied spaces within 120 feet of you. Additionally, the size limit for creatures and objects to move through your portals increases to large.
Level 6: Levitation
As your abilities improve, you’ve learned how to contort space around you, allowing you to pull yourself through the air.
As an Action, you can spend 2 Sorcery Points to gain a flying speed of 40 feet for 1 minute or until you lose your concentration (as if you were concentrating on a spell). When the effect ends, you then plummet to the ground.
As you advance in your mastery of space manipulation, the duration of your flight increases.
The duration increases to 10 minutes, at 10th level, and 1 hour at 14th level.
Level 14: Collapsing Reality
As an Action you can cause all of your Portals to collapse in a violent explosion. This Action causes all active Portals to close immediately afterwards. All creatures within 5 feet of one your Portals must make a Charisma saving throw or suffer the effect determined by rolling on the Collapsing Reality Table below:
Collapsing Reality
ROLL RESULT
1 The creature is teleported 20 feet
in a direction of your choice.
2 The creature disappears from the world,
reappearing at the end of its next turn.
3 The creature suffers the effects of the Slow
spell for 1 minute. The creature can make a
Charisma saving throw at the end of its turn
to end this effect.
4 The creature takes 8d6 force damage.
5 The creature takes 4d10 bludgeoning damage
and is pushed 30 feet away from the portal.
6 Choose one effect above and roll again.
Level 18: Master of the Rift
At 18th level, you have mastered your portal manipulation abilities, enabling swift travel, strategic maneuvers, and the creation of gateways to other realms. This mastery grants you several enhancements and new capabilities:
- Indefinite Duration: Your portals remain open indefinitely, closing only when your hit points are reduced to 0 or you choose to end them.
- Extended Range and Capacity: You can create portals between two unoccupied spaces that you can see, regardless of distance. These portals can now accommodate gargantuan-sized creatures or objects.
- Controlled Planar Travel: You can create portals to other planes of existence, but you must be familiar with the destination. To open a portal to a specific location on another plane, you must have previously visited the location or possess a detailed and accurate description of it.
Creating a portal to another plane requires you to perform a ritual that lasts 1 minute, during which you must draw sigils and focus on the destination you wish to reach. The portal manifests adjacent to you once the ritual is complete. This feature cannot be used to create portals that would place creatures in inherently dangerous environments, such as inside solid objects, the vacuum of space, or directly within lethal elements like lava.
