Base Class: Rogue
Relentless, dedicated, efficient. Those are the words you should fear when you hear of a Bounty Hunter.
A bounty hunter is independent contractor, paid for the capture and return of a fugitive, alive. They specialize in the persistent and relentless tracking required to follow these fugitives to wherever they might lead them. Through dense jungles, barren deserts, or busy streets, a bounty hunter stops at nothing to collect their prize.
Level 3: Tracker
When you choose this archetype at 3rd level, you gain proficiency in the Perception and Survival skills. Your proficiency bonus is doubled for any ability check you make that uses either of those proficiencies to track down another being.
Level 3: Marked Prey
You learn the hunter's mark spell and can cast it at will, without expending a spell slot and without any verbal component. At 9th level, the duration of the spell increases to 8 hours, and increases again at 13th level to 24 hours. Creatures marked by the hunter's mark do not need advantage or to be within 5 ft. of your ally to proc sneak attack. The first time you hit a creature under the effects of your hunter's mark with a weapon attack, you can forego your sneak attack damage. If you do, the creature must make a Constitution saving throw (DC 8 + your Dexterity modifier + your proficiency bonus). On a failed save the creature 's speed is halved for as long as they have the hunter's mark.. At level 13, they gain disadvantage on all attacks against you.
Level 9: Unrelenting Hunt
Beginning at 9th level, you gain a climbing speed and swimming speed equal to your walking speed. While you are tracking a creature, non-magical terrain does not slow you down.
Additionally, you can sense the location of a creature that is under the effects of your hunter's mark, as long as that creature is within 1,000 feet of you. If the creature is in motion, you know the direction of its movement.
At 13th level, the range at which you can sense a creature is expanded to 1 mile. At 17th level, you can sense the location of a creature under the effects of your hunter's mark as long as you are on the same plane of existence as that creature.
Dead or Alive
At 13th level, you gain expertise in Survival. Any checks and attacks made against creatures that have the hunter's mark are at advantage, and creatures marked by the hunter's mark spell now critical hit at 19-20.
Master of the Hunt
When you reach 17th level, you have mastered your Marked Prey feature, perfecting it to a point where anytime you hit a creature under the effects of your hunter's mark with a weapon attack, they suffer all previous stated affects as well as a level of exhaustion.
Additionally, as long as your marked target is on the same plane of existence as you, your hunter's mark lasts until dispelled
