Base Class: Fighter
Does your character have trauma? Do they experience nightmares that they wish they could fight? Are there whispers in their dreams that feel so powerful they seem to harm them physically? If so, they might be suited for the Dream Guardian subclass.
As kids, many were told that their stuffed animals or teddy bears or dolls would protect them in the land of dreams, but for some, that protector was never strong enough to battle the terrors lurking in the dark, making them ready to take up their fists and fight back. Real monsters prowled through the shadows—these monsters embody their deepest fears and regrets. The echoes of these nightmares sow doubt and despair, but within every terror lies the power potential. The Dream Guardian fights them in their dreams and works to take the lessons they learn using a small hand spindle to pull the energy from the nightmares to have a dream thread in the physical world.
The Dream Guardian subclass brings a unique flavor to the Fighter class, reshaping the traditional warrior archetype into a champion who battles in both the physical realm and the land of dreams. Dream Guardians are resilient fighters who harness the powerful energy of their dreams, turning them into thread-based weapons against personal demons and external threats. As your character learns to confront these challenges, they will discover the ability to create their dream protector, battling alongside them as a reminder that they are never alone and always have someone with them. Will they embrace their fears and use them to fight back, both in their dreams and in the waking world?
This is for those who already have a character that never remembers where it came from, but lived life as normally as possible, and then the character died. This is your second character class to help you learn the lore of the first character because you created them, when you tried to create a dream protector you could live through, backfiring putting you into a coma, and stuck in your protector in a new life forgetting who you are and what you were capable of. A dream protector is a second entity, not someone you can live through hence the backlash and the attempt going wrong.
When you wake from the dream coma, you feel the pull to back to the dream and finish the quest the previous character was doing. With the possibility to want to figure out how they died if it was not in battle.
If you are following thisIn a world that often feels overwhelming, some individuals carry the weight of their traumas into their sleep, their soul, where nightmares shape their reality. The Dream Guardian Fighter subclass is designed for individuals who have confronted profound fears and emotional scars that manifest in their dreams and physically harm them. Instead of giving up and living in the darkness, these characters focus on healing and pulling their trauma out into a physical thread to use to protect and fight how they see fit. Creating champions who confront their fears in both the land of dreams and the life they choose to live.
Level 7: Dream Protector
You summon a dream protector, drawn from your inner strength, that manifests for 1 minute as a bonus action once per long rest. The protector shares some of your hit points and is treated as an ally in combat, embodying your protective instincts. It can impose a disadvantage on an attack roll directed at you or an ally within 5 feet as a reaction once per turn.
The protector can add one hit per turn using one weapon from the previous character you are using. If you did not decide to use this homebrew as a backup character and just vibe this, this would just be one attack for the celestial creature you and your DM decide to allow.
Dreams can hurt but not my soul
This is when you gain a lot of different modifiers
