Base Class: Cleric
Indemnity: a sum of money paid as compensation, a security or protection against a loss
Clerics of the Indemnity Domain serve Waukeen, the Merchant's Friend, acting as divine insurers and purveyors of fortune's favor, for a price. They understand that life is full of risks, and just as merchants hedge against losses, so too can individuals guard against misfortune with the blessings of the Golden Lady. These clerics are skilled healers, but their most potent miracles are often reserved for those who have invested in Waukeen's divine protection, symbolized by specially consecrated coins. They believe that a fair exchange benefits all parties, and that preparation and wise investment are keys to weathering any storm. Their faith is a contract, their service a premium, and their miracles the dividends paid out to the faithful and the shrewd.
Level 3: Indemnity Domain Spells
Your connection to this divine domain ensures you always have certain spells ready. When you reach a Cleric level specified in the Life Domain Spells table, you thereafter always have the listed spells prepared.
| Cleric Level | Prepared Spells |
|---|---|
| 3 | Sanctuary, Healing Word, Bless, Aid |
| 5 | Warding Bond, Zone of Truth |
| 7 | Leomund's Secret Chest, Aura of Purity |
| 9 | Greater Restoration, Hallow |
Level 3: Bonus Proficiencies
When you choose this domain at 3rd level, you gain proficiency with one of the following skills of your choice: Insight, Investigation, Persuasion, or Deception. You also gain proficiency with calligrapher's supplies or jeweler's tools.
Level 3: Waukeen's Premium
Starting at 3rd level, you can consecrate special coins in Waukeen's name. You can perform a 1-hour ritual, which can be done during a short or long rest, to create a number of Coins of Waukeen. To do so, you must expend 10 gp worth of precious metals (such as gold, silver, or platinum) per coin created. These coins are visibly marked with Waukeen's holy symbol (an upright coin with Waukeen's profile facing left) and feel warm to the touch for those who are devout or have entered into your 'insurance' agreement. You can have a maximum number of these active consecrated coins equal to your proficiency bonus. If you create more coins beyond this limit, the oldest ones lose their consecration.
A creature holding a Coin of Waukeen is considered "insured" by you and your divine pact with Waukeen. As a bonus action on your turn, you can designate one creature you can see within 60 feet of you that is holding a Coin of Waukeen. For the next minute, whenever that creature regains hit points from a cleric spell you cast, they regain additional hit points equal to your Wisdom modifier (minimum of 1). A creature can only benefit from one such designation at a time.
Additionally, when you cast a cleric spell that restores hit points to a creature holding a Coin of Waukeen, you can choose to also end one condition afflicting them from the following list: blinded, deafened, or poisoned. This requires no action beyond the casting of the spell, but you must declare this benefit before the healing is applied. You must complete a short or long rest before you can use this particular benefit again.
Channel Divinity: Divine Ledger
As an action, you present your holy symbol (which can be a Coin of Waukeen) and invoke Waukeen's blessing on fair exchange or her judgment on unfair dealings. Choose one of the following effects:
- Favorable Terms: Choose a willing creature you can see within 30 feet of you (this can be yourself). For the next 10 minutes, whenever that creature makes an ability check using a skill with which they are proficient, they can choose to add your Wisdom modifier (minimum of +1) to the roll. They can use this benefit a number of times equal to your proficiency bonus before the effect ends.
- Unfavorable Terms: When a creature within 30 feet of you that you can see is about to make an attack roll, ability check, or saving throw, you can use your reaction to impose disadvantage on that roll, as you subtly manipulate the fortunes of the exchange against them. You must declare this before the die is rolled.
Level 6: Blessed Barter
Starting at 6th level, your understanding of value and exchange enhances your divine power. When a creature holding a Coin of Waukeen and benefiting from your Waukeen's Premium feature receives healing from one of your cleric spells, you can also choose one other creature (including yourself if not the primary target) within 30 feet of the primary target. That second creature regains hit points equal to half the amount regained by the primary target (rounded down, minimum 1 hit point). This additional healing does not benefit from Waukeen's Premium itself.
Additionally, when a creature holding a Coin of Waukeen would be reduced to 0 hit points but not killed outright, they can use their reaction to expend the Coin of Waukeen. If they do so, they drop to 1 hit point instead, and the coin crumbles to mundane dust, its magic expended. You can create replacement coins as normal using your Waukeen's Premium feature.
Furthermore, when you use your Waukeen's Premium feature to end a condition, you can now choose from the following list: blinded, charmed, deafened, frightened, or poisoned.
Level 17: Master of the Exchange
At 17th level, your connection to Waukeen allows you to manipulate the very essence of magical transactions and divine favor.
When you cast a cleric spell that has a material component with a gold piece cost, you can choose to expend one Coin of Waukeen instead of providing that component, provided the cost is no more than 100 gp per Coin of Waukeen expended. If the cost is higher, you can expend multiple Coins of Waukeen, with each coin covering up to 100 gp of the cost. The coin(s) are consumed in the process, turning to mundane dust.
Additionally, your Channel Divinity: Divine Ledger becomes more potent:
- Favorable Terms: The chosen creature can now roll an additional d4 and add it to their ability checks benefiting from this feature.
- Unfavorable Terms: The target creature also subtracts a d4 from their roll when you impose disadvantage.
