Base Class: Barbarian
Barbarians who walk the Path of the Sentinel dedicate their full focus into defense, of themselves and of their allies. Putting their full weight behind their shield, they act as the barrier that separates their allies from harm.
Level 3: Shieldbearer
When you wield a shield, it is considered to be a melee weapon, while still granting the normal bonus to AC. The shield deals 1d6 Bludgeonning damage, has the Push mastery, and the Versatile (1d8) property.
If you do not have a weapon equipped other than a shield, you also gain the following benefits:
- You gain an additional +1 bonus to AC
- You gain the ability to attune to magical shields, even if they do not require attunement. If the shield has a bonus to AC determined by the Shield's rarity of +1, +2, or +3, that bonus also applies to attack and damage rolls made while using the attuned shield as a weapon.
Level 3: Reckless Defense
When you take the Reckless Attack feature, you may choose to forego the advantage to attack rolls granted by the feature. If you do so, until the start of your next turn any attacks that target an ally within 5 feet of you is made at disadvantage.
Level 6: Protect
When an ally is targeted by an attack while you are raging, you may spend your reaction to defend them. You immediately move up to 10 feet directly toward that ally. If you end that movement within 5 feet of the targeted ally, you become the target of the triggering attack.
Level 10: Dedicated
As a bonus action during your turn, or at the end of your turn (no action required), you may expend one use of Rage to end the Charmed, Frightened, Grappled, Paralyzed, Poisoned, Restrained, or Stunned conditions on yourself.
Level 14: Warding Shield
When subjected to an effect that allows you to make a dexterity saving throw to take only half damage, you may choose to forego the advantage granted to you from Danger Sense. If you do so, any ally within 10 feet of you who is also subjected to the same effect takes no damage if they succeed on their saving throw and only half damage if they fail. This does not stack with any abilities that grant the same effect.
You cannot use this feature if you have the incapacitated condition.
