Fighter
Base Class: Fighter

The Gambler is a daring Fighter who wields luck as both sword and shield. Armed with arcane-infused Lucky Dice, they twist fate to their advantage—boosting their strikes, bending the rules, or making impossible things happen through sheer audacity.

This subclass thrives on risk, creativity, and charisma. Whether they're forcing a killing blow to land, flipping a doomed situation into a victory, or making a bold bargain with the DM for a miracle outcome, the Gambler turns randomness into a weapon.

As they grow in power, their pool of Lucky Dice expands, and so do their options—culminating in the ability to make world-shaking bets with the dice and break reality itself.

“Every roll is a gamble. Every gamble is a story.”

🎲 Lucky Dice Progression

Fighter Level Lucky Dice Dice Size
3rd 1 d6
7th 2 d6
10th 3 d6
15th 4 d6
18th 4 (Jackpot Features) d6

You regain all Lucky Dice after a long rest, and recover 1 spent die on a short rest.

Level 3: Lucky Gambit

Starting at 3rd level, you gain 1 Lucky Die (a d6). This die represents your gambler’s edge, and you can spend it in the following ways:

🎯 Combat Boosts

  • Add to the d20 – When you make an attack roll, ability check, or saving throw, you can spend a Lucky Die to add its result to the roll.
You may roll the die after seeing your result, but before the DM declares success or failure.
  • Add to Damage – When you hit with a weapon attack, you can spend a Lucky Die to add its result to the damage roll.
  • Critical Trigger – If the Lucky Die shows a 6 when used for damage, the attack instead becomes a critical hit.
Ignore the die’s value and apply critical damage instead.

♻️ Regaining Dice

You regain all expended Lucky Dice when you finish a long rest, and recover 1 spent die after finishing a short rest.

Level 7: Stacked Odds

“Two dice, double the trouble.”

You now hold 2 Lucky Dice.

🎲 Split or Stack

  • Stack: Use both dice on a single roll or a single damage roll.
  • Split: Use one die on one roll and the second die on a different roll during the same turn.

💥 Critical Threshold

If you stack 2 Lucky Dice on a weapon hit and the total of the two dice is 8 or higher, the attack becomes a critical hit.

If the total is lower than 8, you still add it as bonus damage.

Level 10: Three of a Kind

“No risk, no legend.”

You now have 3 Lucky Dice.

When attempting a Miracle Bargain—a bold narrative request—you may declare a High Stakes Deal.

  1. Propose your miracle to the DM.
Example: “Can I find a hidden mechanism that disables the boss’s shield?”
  2. The DM secretly chooses a target score between DC 10–18, depending on the scale and impact of your request.
    Simple ask? DC 10–12.
    World-shaking plot twist? DC 16–18.
  3. You may roll all 3 Lucky Dice at once. Add the total together.
  4. If your total equals or exceeds the DM’s score, the miracle succeeds. If you're within 1–2 points of the DC, the DM may allow a partial success or complication.
  5. You still expend the 3 dice, whether or not you succeed.

Luck favors the bold—but not the foolish.

Level 15: Four of a Kind

“The more I bet, the harder fate folds.”

Your Lucky Dice pool increases to 4 dice. All previous mechanics and effects remain unchanged.

No new complications—just more luck at your fingertips. Use it wisely... or recklessly.

All In

All‑In (18th-Level Feature)

“I bet everything—and reality calls my bluff.”

Once per long rest, you can declare an All-In moment and roll all 4 of your Lucky Dice at once.

🎰 Jackpot Check

If two or more dice show a 6, you hit the jackpot. Gain the following bonuses:

  • Bonus Turn – Immediately take one extra action.
  • Refresh Luck – Regain 2 expended Lucky Dice.
Note: Even if you regain dice through Jackpot, all 4 dice are still considered expended after this feature is used.

🎲 What You Do With the Total

After the Jackpot Check, add up all 4 dice (maximum total: 24). Then, choose one of the following:

  • 🎭 Bargain with Fate – Treat the total as a d20 result to convince the DM to allow a cinematic or miraculous effect (e.g., slay a powerful minion, discover a legendary relic, or trigger a miracle).
  • 💥 Brutal Strike – Add the total as bonus damage to a weapon attack you just hit with.

Example Use

You roll [6, 6, 5, 3] → Jackpot triggers!

  • Take one extra action now
  • Regain 2 Lucky Dice
  • Total = 20 → You choose to add 20 bonus damage to your strike—or use it to fuel a miraculous effect, as negotiated with the DM.
