Base Class: Monk
Monks that follow the Way of the Blinded Warrior heighten their other senses by eliminating the most distracting one. Either through intense meditation or physical force, the monk blinds themselves and harnesses their connection to the earth and their Ki in order to perceive the world in a lethally accurate way. Most Blinded Warriors travel in groups; spreading their wisdom and helping innocent creatures but have been known to travel alone or reside in small villages. Their way of life is humble and as long as they stay grounded they see everything.
Heightened Senses
Starting when you choose this tradition at 3rd level, you develop blindness as a result of your training, but have developed other ways to perceive your surroundings by honing in on certain skills, such as hearing and the ability to sense vibrations in the ground.
You gain the following benefits to compensate for your blindness:
- You gain proficiency in the Perception Skill if you don't already.
- You gain advantage on Wisdom (Perception) checks that rely on hearing.
- While you are not wearing shoes, you have tremorsense that reaches up to 120 feet.
Intuitive Defense
Starting when you choose this tradition at 3rd level, you harness your ki to heighten your reflexes to compensate for your lack of sight. When you are hit by an attack, as a reaction, you can spend a number of ki points up to half your monk level to gain an AC bonus equal to (WIS modifier + amount of ki spent) for one round.
Heightened Senses
At 6th level, the extensive use of your secondary senses leads to the mastery of this skill and the new ability to perceive your surroundings using echolocation.
You gain the following benefits:
- You can now double your proficiency bonus when using the Perception Skill.
- You gain blindsight with a range of 60 feet.
Tethered Souls
Starting at 6th level, when you hit a creature with an unarmed strike, you can spend 1 ki point to tether your ki to the creature's ki. While tethered, you know where this creature is at all times, as long as they are within one mile of you and on the same plane of existence.
In addition, you have the ability to manipulate their ki and torture their soul. As a bonus action, you can activate Withering Soul and spend 2 ki points to force the creature to make a Constitution saving throw. On a failed save, the creature takes necrotic damage equal to (2 martial arts die + WIS modifier), and half damage on a successful one.
Heightened Senses
At 11th level, the range of your blindsight increases to 120 feet.
Rite of the Blind
Starting at 11th level, you can manipulate your ki to afflict those with your own apparent weakness. When you hit a creature with an unarmed strike, you can spend 2 ki points to force the creature to make a Constitution saving throw. On a failed save, the creature goes blind for a number of minutes equal to your Wisdom modifier.
While your ki clouds the creature's vision, you can add your Wisdom modifier to any attack rolls made against them.
Heightened Senses
At 17th level, the ranges of your tremorsense and blindsight increase to 240 feet.
Devastating Critical
Starting at 17th level, your ability to manipulate ki is unmatched, allowing you to inflict devastating effects against your foes.
When you land a critical hit against a creature that you are tethered to, they must make a Constitution saving throw. On a failed save, the creature drops to 0 hit points. On a successful save, you add your Withering Soul damage (excluding the Wisdom modifier).
When you land a critical hit against a creature that you are not tethered to, the creature must make a Constitution saving throw, becoming blinded permanently on a failed save.
