Base Class: Rogue
You focus your training on the grim art of death. Those who adhere to this archetype are diverse: hired killers, spies, bounty hunters, or specially anointed priests trained to exterminate the enemies of their deity. Stealth, poison, and even shadow magic help you eliminate your foes with deadly efficiency.
Bonus Proficiencies
When you choose this archetype at 3rd level, you gain proficiency with the Medicine skill and the poisoner’s kit.
Assassinate
Starting at 3rd level, you are at your deadliest when you get the drop on your enemies. You have advantage on attack rolls against any creature that hasn’t taken a turn in the combat yet. In addition, any hit you score against a creature that is surprised is a critical hit.
Shadow Magic
Starting at 9th level, you can use Shadow Magic. As an action you can use this feature to cast one of the following spells at their base level: Darkness, Disguise Self, Pass Without Trace or Silence. You can use this feature a number of times equal to your proficiency bonus and recover all uses after completing a long rest.
Additionally, once per turn you can deal an additional 2d6 necrotic damage when you hit a creature with a weapon attack while that creature is in dim light or darkness.
Ambusher
At 13th level, your ability to move quickly and take the enemy by surprise has increased. You movement speed increases by 10 and your Dexterity modifier is doubled when applying to your Initiative.
Death Strike
Starting at 17th level, you become a master of instant death. When you attack and hit a creature that is surprised, it must make a Constitution saving throw (DC 8 + your Dexterity modifier + your proficiency bonus). On a failed save, double the damage of your attack against the creature.

Posted Jan 20, 2022I really like this approuch at revising the Assassin, most of the other ones that add Shadow utilize the Shadow step spect from Monk or Sorcerer, this feels more thematic.
