Base Class: Monk
Masters of an explosive martial arts, Monks who follow the Way of Dacron Hale are masters at receiving damage and turning it on their opponents. Created by Dacron Hale, the patron deity of the Halian religion, The Way of Dacron Hale focuses on the reversal of offensive energy and converts it into their own power to assist in taking down enemies.
Halian Form
“Patience has it's limits.”- Sacred Scrolls of Dacron Hale
Starting at 3rd level, you gain the ability to go into the Halian form, a technique passed down from Dacron Hale himself. This form allows a novice to turn incoming attacks into extra weight behind their fist, and allows a master to redirect the tides of a battle within a single breath. A technique ingrained into a Halian Monk's very bones through intense training, they can shift into the Halian Form at the drop of a hat.
As a reaction to taking damage, you can absorb kinetic energy (slashing damage, bludgeoning damage, and piercing damage) and convert it into force damage to use for your own attacks at the cost of your ki. Each ki point used, roll 1 Martial Arts die + your WIS modifier and subtract the roll from the incoming damage. The total of these rolls are the amount of damage you've absorbed, and you only take the amount of damage you didn't absorb. Additionally, you add the absorbed damage to the next damage roll you make from one of your attacks as force damage.
If you roll more than total damage received, you instead ignore that roll from the amount of damage absorbed, take the damage, and regain the ki point. If you do not release the energy you've absorbed by the start of your next turn by attacking a creature, you take damage equal to the absorbed energy plus your WIS modifier as force damage.
Tip the Scales
“Bring ruin to those who bring you harm.” - Holy Scrolls of Dacron Hale
When performing your duties as a Halian Monk, it is sometimes necessary to utilize the imbalance within a situation to bring about equality.
Starting at level 6, if you have to make a roll at disadvantage, you can use your bonus action to spend 3 ki points to transfer it to a creature you touch, giving them disadvantage on their next roll. Additionally, you can use your bonus action to spend 2 ki points to take disadvantage from an ally you touch and transfer it to another creature you touch, giving them disadvantage on their next roll.
If you do not transfer the disadvantage or advantage to another creature within your turn (or 6 seconds of in-game time), the check automatically fails and you have disadvantage on your next roll.
Beauty of Balance
“Internal balance is key to an external victory.”- Sacred Scrolls of Dacron Hale
In this milestone of your path to master Dacron Hale's martial art, you learn the ability to force upon others what has been forced unto you, utilizing your inner Ki to turn the tables on your opponents.
Starting at 11th level, you gain the ability to hold conditions inflicted on you, which you can transfer to any creature you touch. As an action, you can spend 3 ki points to transfer one condition inflicted on you to another creature. This counts as an unarmed strike, though you can decide if it does damage or not. The target creature has to make a WIS save (DC is the DC of the saving throw/check you had to make + your WIS modifier or your Ki Save DC, whichever is higher) or suffer from the condition. If you succeed in transferring the held condition, you will no longer suffer from it.
Additionally, you can use an action to spend 2 ki points to take a condition from an ally you can touch in order to transfer it to another creature. This counts as an unarmed strike, though you can decide if it does damage or not. The target creature has to make a WIS save (DC is the DC of the saving throw/check your ally had to make + your WIS modifier or your Ki Save DC, whichever is higher) or suffer from the condition. If you succeed in transferring the held condition, your ally will no longer suffer from the condition.
Herald of Retribution
“I pray for the perseverance of all my followers, for those who tread the path I have paved without the necessary strength of will shall perish.” - Sacred Scrolls of Dacron Hale
Starting at 17th level, you gain the ability to fulfill your duty as a true disciple of Dacron Hale as tribute to you for overcoming insurmountable challenges. You’ve pushed your body to the limits, and have now achieved the pinnacle of his technique. Let his righteous fury strengthen your stride, Herald of Retribution.
Now when you use Halian Form, you gain the following effects:
- If you roll more for damage aborbed than the incoming damage, you can add the excess to the next damage roll you make from one of your attacks. This does not expend the ki point.
- If you roll the same number on two or more dice for your damage absorption rolls, you also roll extra Martial Arts dice equal to how many ki points you have and add your WIS modifier to each of the rolls. You add this damage as force damage to the next damage roll you make from one of your attacks. This does not expend your remaining ki.
Now when you use Tip the Scales, you gain the following effects:
- Transferring disadvantage from yourself to another creature now only costs 2 ki points.
- Transferring disadvantage from an ally to another creature now only costs 1 ki point.
- You can now transfer disadvantage from an ally up to 30 feet away.
Now when you use Beauty of Balance, you gain the following effects:
- Whenever you transfer a condition from yourself or an ally to another creature, you can expend 5 ki points to make the creature instantly fail the save/check against the transferred condition.
