Artificer
Base Class: Artificer

Battle Pilots have fought many a tough battle against larger opponents thanks to their mastery of the Mobile Chassis, a suit of armor so large that one must pilot it from inside.

Mobile Chassis

When you adopt this specialization at 3rd level, you gain the ability to construct and pilot a Mobile Chassis, a powerful large suit of armor. The Mobile Chassis has its own hit points, movement, and attacks. You can summon or dismiss it as an action. While piloting the Mobile Chassis, you gain the following benefits:

  • You have a bonus to your AC equal to your Intelligence modifier (minimum of +1).
  • The Mobile Chassis has its own hit points, determined by a formula based on your Artificer level and Intelligence modifier.
  • You can use your Intelligence modifier for attack and damage rolls made by the Mobile Chassis.
  • The Mobile Chassis has a climbing speed equal to its walking speed and can move through difficult terrain without penalty.

Customization

Starting at 5th level, you can customize your Mobile Chassis with various modifications, such as enhanced armor, weapons, and utility tools. Choose a number of modifications equal to your Intelligence modifier (minimum of 1) from a list of options. As you level up, you can swap out modifications during a long rest.

Advanced Arcane Intelligence

Your Mobile Chassis gains an advanced arcane intelligence system, granting it advantage on saving throws against spells and other magical effects. Additionally, it can communicate telepathically with you while piloting.

Air Mode

Your Mobile Chassis gains a limited flight ability, allowing it to hover and fly at a speed of 30 feet for up to 1 minute per short rest. During flight, you can make one ranged attack.

Artillery Module

Your Mobile Chassis is equipped with a ranged weapon module (e.g., shoulder-mounted missiles or arm cannons) that deals an additional 1d8 damage on a hit. It has a range of 120 feet.

Emergency Systems

When your Mobile Chassis is reduced to 0 hit points, it can activate emergency systems, allowing it to remain operational with 1 hit point for 1 round. This ability can only be used once per long rest.

Energy Conversion

Your Mobile Chassis can convert lightning, fire, or radiant damage into temporary hit points. When hit by an energy attack of any of those types, it gains temporary hit points equal to half the damage taken.

Melee Augmentations

Your Mobile Chassis's melee attacks deal an additional 1d6 damage.

Reenforced Armor

Your Mobile Chassis gains +2 AC.

Shield Generator

Your Mobile Chassis can project a barrier as a reaction to taking damage, granting it temporary hit points equal to your Intelligence modifier. These temporary hit points last until the start of your next turn.

Stealth Cloak

Your Mobile Chassis can turn invisible, granting it advantage on Dexterity (Stealth) checks. While invisible, it has disadvantage on attack rolls and can't use ranged weapons.

Utility Systems

Your Mobile Chassis is equipped with various utility tools, such as retractable grappling hooks, lockpick fingers, or sensor suites. You gain advantage on checks related to these tools.

Energy Core

At 9th level, you learn to channel additional power into your Mobile Chassis. As a bonus action, you can activate Overdrive, granting your Mobile Chassis temporary hit points equal to your Artificer level + your Intelligence modifier. While Overdrive is active, your Mobile Chassis gains advantage on Strength checks and saving throws, and its movement speed is doubled. Overdrive lasts for 1 minute and can be used once per short or long rest.

Perfect Synchronization

At 15th level, your connection with your Mobile Chassis reaches its peak. While piloting the Mobile Chassis, you can make a second attack as a bonus action, and you have advantage on saving throws against being restrained, stunned, or knocked prone. Additionally, you can use your reaction to redirect an attack targeting an ally within 30 feet of you to your Mobile Chassis, forcing the attacker to make a new attack roll against your Mobile Chassis's AC.
