Blood Hunter
Base Class: Blood Hunter

Few dare to walk beneath the eyes of the Crooked Moon and whisper back when it speaks. You did.

Whether by moonlight ritual, whispered pact, or unwilling communion, your blood no longer runs clean. Your rites summon more than pain. They bring shadows of the dead, echoes of unlife, and glimpses of a crooked afterlife.

The Order of the Crooked Moon is feared for their ability to call forth spirits, twist the will of others, and mark foes with moonlit brands that never truly fade. They serve as anchors between realms, walking alongside the dead in battle and bending lost souls to their cause.

Level 3: Rite of the Pale Echo

You gain a unique crimson rite: Rite of the Pale Echo. When activated, your weapon deals cold or radiant damage (your choice).

When you hit a creature with this rite, you can force it to make a Wisdom saving throw (DC = 8 + your proficiency bonus + your Hemocraft modifier). On a failed save, it has disadvantage on its next attack roll before the end of its next turn.

You can use this feature a number of times equal to your proficiency bonus, regaining all uses on a short rest.

Level 3: Phantom Step

As a bonus action, you become partially incorporeal until the end of your next turn.

  • Move through creatures/objects (difficult terrain)

  • Resistance to nonmagical B/P/S damage

  • Take 1d10 force damage if you end your turn inside an object

You can use this feature a number of times equal to your proficiency bonus per long rest.

Crooked Resurrection

When a creature afflicted by one of your Amplified Blood Maledicts is reduced to 0 hit points, you may breathe a warped remnant of life back into its remains.

As a bonus action, within 1 minute of the creature’s death, you may summon a Crooked Remnant—a spectral, distorted mockery of the soul you just released. It uses the attached stat block, with the following enhancements:

  • It cannot speak, but echoes its final breath or dying words in a broken loop

  • It radiates dim moonlight or shadow in a 10-foot radius (your choice)

  • It acts on your initiative and obeys your verbal commands

  • It lasts 1 hour or until reduced to 0 hit points

You can use this feature once per short or long rest, and you may only have one Crooked Remnant active at a time.

Level 11: Deathspeaker's Wake

The souls you brand do not pass quietly. Their echoes cling to your blood, lingering within you until your next rest.

When a creature branded by your Brand of Castigation dies, its spirit becomes briefly tethered to you. Until you finish a short or long rest, you gain the following benefits:

  • You can speak and understand one language the creature knew in life.

  • Once during this time, you may ask the soul one question, as though under speak with dead. The answer arrives as a whisper only you can hear.

  • Once while the echo lingers, when you deal rite damage, you may reroll one of the damage dice and use either result.

You may have only one soul echo bound in this way at a time. Binding another causes the former to fade.

Level 15: Gravetide Manifest

You become a vessel for the remnants of the branded dead. While your crimson rite is active, you are surrounded by drifting echoes and unseen hands.

  • Creatures of your choice within 10 feet have disadvantage on saving throws against your Blood Curses.

  • When a creature frightened of you starts its turn within this range, it takes necrotic or psychic damage (your choice) equal to your Hemocraft die.

  • When a creature branded by you dies within 30 feet, you may immediately move your brand to another creature you can see within 30 feet (no action required).

You may activate or suppress this aura as a bonus action.

Level 18: Curse of the Pale Choir

You no longer walk with a single spirit-you command a choir of the crooked dead.

Once per long rest, as a bonus action, you may enter an enhanced form of Phantom Step for 5 minutes. While in this form:

  • You may brand up to three creatures you can see within 60 feet. These do not count against your usual brand limit, but follow normal rules for duration and effects.

  • Whenever you summon a Crooked Remnant, it becomes a Crooked Ascendant (enhanced stat block), and the maximum number of Remnants you can control at once increases to 2.

  • You automatically gain the Blood Curse of the Bound Remnant, which does not count against your total number of blood curses known.
