Base Class: Bard
The College of Hymns encompasses a profound connection between inner expression and devotion, allowing bards to tap into a wellspring of divine power. While it naturally aligns with gods associated with healing and the arts, such as Apollo, Hathor, and Othras, it extends its embrace to all realms of faith. Hymnists within this college find worship and empowerment through their performances, allowing their inner voices to resound with authenticity. Whether their veneration is directed towards gods of life, death, good, evil, or a pantheon in its entirety, the College of Hymns recognizes that the true essence of their power lies within the individual’s ability to express themselves and connect with the divine, regardless of the specific deity they choose to honor.
Divine Resonance
Starting at 3rd level when you join this College, your connection to the divine plane empowers your artistic expressions, granting you access to the essence of the divine. You gain proficiency in Intelligence (Religion) checks and you learn one additional cantrip of your choice. When you learn this new cantrip or replace a cantrip with another one, you may choose the cantrip from the Cleric spell list.
Additionally, once per long rest, you can attune yourself to a divine domain from the Cleric class. You gain access to the spells associated with that domain as long as they are of a level that you can cast. These spells are considered bard spells for you and are part of your spells known but do not count against the total number of spells you can learn.
Harmonic Verse
Also starting at 3rd level, when you attune to a Cleric domain, you also choose a Harmonic verse that fits that domain from the options provided below (the following combinations are suggestions but the choice is free) and gain its effects.
- Verse of Respite.
Suggested domains: Twilight, Order, Peace
When you cast a spell or use an ability to aid another creature, you may expend one use of your Bardic inspiration. If you do, you may choose a number of creatures equal to your proficiency modifier that are within 30ft of the original target(s). Each of these creatures gain Temporary hitpoints equal to one roll of your Bardic Inspiration die plus your Charisma Modifier.
- Verse of Zeal:
Suggested domains: Light, War, Tempest, Death
When you cast a spell or use an ability to damage or hinder another creature, you may expend one use of your Bardic inspiration. If you do, you may choose a number of creatures equal to your proficiency modifier that are within 30ft of you. Each of these creatures may add radiant damage equal to one roll of your Bardic Inspiration die to the damage roll for their next attack or spell.
- Verse of Grace:
Suggested domains: Life, Grave, Nature
When you cast a spell or use an ability to aid another creature, you may expend one use of your Bardic inspiration. If you do, you may heal a number of additional targets that are within 30ft of the original target(s) for an amount equal to one roll of your Bardic Inspiration die plus your Charisma modifier. The number of additional creatures you can target is equal to your proficiency modifier.
- Verse of Revelation:
Suggested domains: Arcana, Forge, Knowledge, Trickery
When you cast a spell or use an ability to aid another creature, you may expend one use of your Bardic inspiration. If you do, you may choose a number of creatures equal to your proficiency modifier that are within 30ft of the original target(s). Each of these creatures may add one roll of your Bardic Inspiration die to their next saving throw.
Melodic Sanctuary
Starting at 6th level, your artistic expression gains heightened protective power. When you use the Countercharm feature, you can now activate it with a bonus action instead of an action.
Furthermore, beginning from the second consecutive round that you maintain Countercharm, you have the ability to select one creature within 30 feet of you, provided they can see and hear you. As an action, you may apply one of the following effects to that character, depending on what Harmonic Verse you chose.
- Verse of Respite: You grant that target half-cover within your Countercharm until you choose another target or untill the Countercharm ends prematurely.
- Verse of Zeal: You deal radiant damage to that target equal to one roll of your Bardic Inspiration die. This increases to two rolls at level 14.
- Verse of Grace: You end one Poisoned, Blinded, Deafened or Stunned effect on that target. Alternatively, you may Stabalize a target.
- Verse of Revelation: You end one Charm, Fear or Paralysation effect on that target. Alternatively, you may end one negative spell effect that is affecting the target.
While this ability is active, you must use your bardic focus, preventing you from using it to cast spells that require material components.
Divine Affinity
Starting at 14th level, your connection to the divine deepens, allowing you to further harness its power. Your Divine Resonance and Harmonic Verse features now can be re-attuned on a short rest, granting you more flexibility in your divine power.
Additionally, whenever you attune to a domain, you may choose two Verses for you Harmonic Verse ability, instead of one.
