Base Class: Bard
Strike Chords to Protect and Destroy
Bards of the College of the Chord are masters of musical theory - using their songcraft to both shelter their allies and devastate their foes. These Bards not only bring unique and emotive songs into the world, but pluck at the very strings of the weave itself when channelling their power. Some say that their instrumental mastery is superior even to the Bards of other Colleges; their love for both melody and cacophony being practically unparalleled across the multiverse.
Level 3: Thunderous Inspiration
You can use your wit to unleash cacophonous melodies on the battlefield.
Cacophonous Blast. When a creature you can see within 30 feet of you deals Thunder damage to a target, you can use a reaction and expend a use of your Bardic Inspiration to add two rolls of your Bardic Inspiration die, adding the number rolled to the attack’s damage against the one target damaged by the triggering attack, spell or feature.
Discordant Strike. Immediately after a creature that has a Bardic Inspiration die from you hits a target with an attack roll, the creature can roll the Bardic Inspiration die and add the number rolled as additional Thunder damage to the attack.
Level 6: Jarring Cantrips
Your cantrips are infused with earsplitting melodies. Whenever you deal damage with a Bard cantrip, you can deal extra Thunder damage to one target of the cantrip equal to your Proficiency Bonus.
Level 6: Counterchord
You can use musical notes to reduce the intensity of harmful thunder-based effects. If you or a creature within 30 feet of you takes Thunder damage whilst you are holding a musical instrument, you can take a Reaction to strike a counterchord, granting the creature resistance against the triggering Thunder damage.
You cannot use this feature if you are incapacitated, your hands are bound, or you are otherwise unable to freely use your musical instrument.
Level 14: Music Theory
You've developed a masterful command of music theory, and can invoke thunderous minor chords without tiring.
Cacophonous Blast. When you use your reaction to deal the additional damage from your Thunderous Inspiration feature, you can roll 2d6 instead of rolling your Bardic Inspiration die, dealing that amount of additional thunder damage without expending the Bardic Inspiration die.
Discordant Strike. Once per turn when a creature that has a Bardic Inspiration die from you hits a target with an attack roll, it can roll a d6 instead of your Bardic Inspiration die, dealing that amount of additional Thunder damage without expending the Bardic Inspiration die.
