Druid
Base Class: Druid

Druids of the Circle of the Crimson Moon draw their power from the rare and terrifying phenomenon known as the blood moon, a celestial event said to peel back the veil of civility and order, revealing the primal chaos beneath. Under its scarlet light, the wilderness becomes unrecognizable: beasts howl with unfamiliar voices, trees twist in grotesque shapes, and strange creatures roam free as if drawn from the world’s nightmares.

Rather than shaping themselves into common beasts, these druids channel the moon’s cursed light to take the forms of Monstrosities. They see these forms not as abominations, but as aspects of nature too fearsome to be counted among beasts. Where other druids might become a wolf to track or a bear to fight, a Crimson Moon druid might become a hook horror, an owlbear, or some spined, skittering terror.

Traditional circles may shun them, but the druids of the Crimson Moon embrace what others deny: that nature has always had monsters. Nature is not kind, nor is it clean—it is a red struggle for survival, and the moon above watches without judgment. In their eyes, monstrosities are no less real than deer or birds; they are as much a part of the world’s design as roots and rain, just harder to accept.

Crimson Moon druids are often secretive, appearing at the edges of wild places, drawn to ancient glades and cursed groves. Their presence is marked by unsettling quiet, strange howls, or the echo of many footsteps where only one figure stands.

Level 3: Monstrous Forms

You can channel the power of the blood moon when you assume a Wild Shape form. Instead of transforming into a Beast, you transform into a Monstrosity of a Challenge Rating available to you, granting you the benefits below.

Challenge Rating. The maximum Challenge Rating for the Monstrosity equals your Druid level divided by 3 (round down).

Armor Class. Until you leave the form, your AC equals 13 plus your Wisdom modifier if that total is higher than the Monstrosity’s AC.

Temporary Hit Points. You gain a number of Temporary Hit Points equal to three times your Druid level.

Level 3: Circle of the Crimson Moon Spells

When you reach a Druid level specified in the Circle of the Crimson Moon Spells table, you thereafter always have the listed spells prepared.

Druid Level Circle Spells
3 Moonbeam, Longstrider, Chill Touch
5 Blood Transfusion
7 Blight
9 Contagion

Level 6: Improved Monstrous Forms

While taking on a Monstrous Form, you gain the following Benefits:

Lunging Mutation. Your reach with melee attacks in a Monstrous Wild Shape form increases by 5 feet.

Terror Maw. The first time you hit a creature with an attack in a Monstrous Wild Shape form, it must succeed on a Wisdom saving throw (DC = your spell save DC) or be frightened of you until the end of your next turn.

Level 10: Predator of the Crimson Moon

While in a Monstrous Wild Shape form, you gain the following benefits:

Monstrous Persistence. When you drop to 0 temporary hit points while in Monstrous Wild Shape, you can maintain the form with 1 temporary hit point instead. Any damage that carries over to your true form still carries over. This can happen once per long rest.

Monstrous Savagery. Once per turn, you can deal an extra 1d10 Necrotic damage to a target you hit with a Monstrous Wild Shape form's attack.

Level 14: Apex Monstrosity

Your connection to the Crimson Moon reaches its final phase, warping your transformations into apex nightmares. You gain the following benefits while in Monstrous Wild Shape:

Restoring Maw. When you reduce a creature to 0 hit points, you can add temporary hit points equal to your Wisdom modifier (minimum 1) to your current temporary hit points and can move up to 15 feet as a reaction.

Blasphemous Body. You gain resistance to bludgeoning, piercing, and slashing damage from nonsilvered attacks.
