Base Class: Warlock
By some extreme stroke of fate or chance, you caught the eye of a phoenix, and in a moment of life or death it first made a connection with you, saving you from that death, pulling you from it, you now have been blessed with some powers and traits of a phoenix.
Expanded Spell List
Being Chosen by the phoenix lets you choose from an expanded list of spells when you learn a warlock spell. The following spells are added to the warlock spell list for you.
Phoenix Expanded Spells
| Spell Level | Spells |
|---|---|
| 1st | cure wounds, faerie fire |
| 2nd | continual flame, scorching ray |
| 3rd | fireball, rise from the ashes |
| 4th | fire shield, death ward |
| 5th | immolation, reincarnate |
Flames of the Phoenix
Starting at 1st level, you are granted bonus cantrips that count as warlock cantrips for you but do not count against your number of cantrips known.
Phoenix Warrior
at 3rd level, you acquire the training necessary to effectively arm yourself for battle. You gain proficiency with medium armor, shields, and martial weapons.
The influence of your patron also allows you to mystically channel your will through a particular weapon. Whenever you finish a long rest, you can touch one weapon that you are proficient with and that lacks the two-handed property. When you attack with that weapon, you can use your Charisma modifier, instead of Strength or Dexterity, for the attack and damage rolls. This benefit lasts until you finish a long rest. If you later gain the Pact of the Blade feature, this benefit extends to every pact weapon you conjure with that feature, no matter the weapon’s type.
Mantle of the Phoenix
Starting at 3rd level, you gain the ability to take on the mantle of the phoenix. As a bonus action, envelope yourself in the flames of the phoenix, shining phoenix wings and tail feathers appear to be sprouting from your back and your eyes are ablaze with the eternal flame. The mantle ends early if you are incapacitated. Until the mantle ends, you gain the following benefits:
- Any attack that causes you damage causes a phoenix feather to hit the attacker for fire damage, while another feather goes to your nearest ally healing them. The fire damage/healing done equals your proficiency bonus.
- You shed bright light for 30 feet and dim light for another 30.
- Your weapon is engulfed in the flames of the phoenix, your attacks deal extra fire damage based on the table below.
- You have resistence to fire damage. Once you reach level 16 in this class this becomes immunity to fire damage.
| Level | Dice |
| 3 | D6 |
| 6 | D8 |
| 10 | D10 |
| 14 |
D12 |
You can’t use this feature again until you finish a short or long rest.
Phoenix Wings
Starting at 6th level, when you use the Mantle of the Phoenix, your phoenix wings have grown larger to give you the ability to fly up to your movement speed, this only lasts while you have the mantle of the phoenix active.
Rise of the phoenix
At 10th level, your powers of the phoenix have grown to such an extent that if you would be reduced to 0 hit points once per use of the mantle, your phoenix flames erupt, you can use up to half your level in hit die to recover and deal fire damage back to the attacker if they fail a dex saving throw or half as much on a save.
A Phoenix never dies
Starting at 14th level, your powers to immitate the phoenix have grown, one time each long rest, when you hit 0 hit points, the flames of rebirth erupt from you, healing you and all allys within 20ft of you for up to half your max hit point dice rounded up (or however many hit point dice you have left) while dealing fire damage of that amount to enemy creatures within range that fail a dexterity saving throw, or half as much on a save. Those hit dice are spent.
When failing 3 death saving throws, make a 4th, if this is a fail, nothing happens, if it is a success you resurrect from the closest flame or pile of ashes large enough for your body to climb out of at 1 hit point after 10 minutes. You erupt from the flames or ashes gasping for air as if you just broke the surface of deep waters, but covered in ash.
